I worked at Solyndra, Inc. full-time (Less than a year)
Intelligent people, passionate about what they were creating.
Strong focus on manufacturing equipment to produce the best product of its unique kind.
Flexible, somewhat agile for a commodity producer.
Costly product, but it had a niche market in light weight roofs in the commercial space.
Taken on too much debt too fast before it established itself.
Manufacturing in Bay Area - far too costly in construction, labor and being regulation heavy.
Advice to Management
This was not a semi capital equipment company where burning cash automatically produces abundant revenue.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Solyndra, Inc. (Fremont, CA) in June 2011.
I got the interview through an employee referral. I had three one on one interviews, one with a manager (half hour), one with a director (fifteen minutes), and one with an HR representative (fifteen minutes). Everyone was very friendly, and I got a tour after the interview. I received my offer after about a week and a half.
