  • On Saturday August 12th, the Charleston, SC office participated in an event in partnership with the The Hootie and the Blowfish Foundation. This foundation supports hundreds of charities worldwide, donating over $1.8 million to date to multitudes of causes. Their support ranges from building community learning centers to outfitting school marching bands to simply providing educators with the tools they need to nurture children's talents and help them succeed. The Homegrown Roundup occurs each August to help prepare students for the upcoming school year. Each student receives a backpack full of donated school supplies, free dental and eye exams, and haircuts. Sonepar served over 600+ students donating pens and rulers. We even met Darius Rucker and got a signed autograph! Thanks to all our volunteers and executives for joining us over their weekend to give back!

PEOPLE ARE OUR FUTURE

Hear from a few of our current associates about what it is like to work at Sonepar USA:

Sadie - Outside Sales

"I found about our company through the career fair and was lucky enough to get an interview on campus for the Sonepar Management Training Program.  I got to spend time with each level of the company in the operating branches. I started in the warehouse then moved into becoming a buyer on-site. I really liked the whole customer interaction aspect of the company and moved into inside sales.  I processed a lot of orders and sold from inside the branch.  Then I got to hit the road and move into outside sales and started engaging with customers.  I did that for a full year, and by then it was very clear to me that I wanted to do outside sales. I love my customers, as I get to build a relationship with them, really getting to offer service and products that help them. I get to bring a new technology or a new solution to them."

Jessie – Warehouse Supervisor

“I actually started 27 years ago.  I started in 1987 in the warehouse as a driver.  From a driver, I went to a team leader and then moved to a warehouse supervisor…. Customers come in and they do tell you they won’t shop anywhere else because they feel like a family when they come in.  That’s how we make them feel.”

Marcus – Inside Sales Operations

“I have been with the company for approximately eight years.  I started at the counter and did that for approximately two to three years. I was also the floater as well, so I went from location to location - from York, Pennsylvania to Virginia, to Richmond and Alexander, and everywhere in between. During that rotation I worked in basic counter sales, answering phones, putting in orders, etc. And as time went on, I was able to engage in a lot of the training that Sonepar offered to all of its associates. And I was able to better myself, and earn some certifications that allowed me to qualify for the position I'm currently in now.”

Rachael  - HR Shared Services

“I have been with the company for about eight years, and I am currently the HR Shared Services Manager. The people are my passion, and I love being in the HR department. I have no doubt that when people come on board to this organization they're going to fall in love with it. Not only did it start as a family-based business, based on entrepreneurship both globally and locally-- these people become your family.”

Joe – Information Technology

We – in the electrical product distribution and related services industries -  may not be in a very attractive business to the IT professional. However, if you look at our technology, we have the latest and greatest storage sub-systems, virtualized technology from VMWare, Cisco and Cisco UCS, as well as advanced router equipment that we use for our networking. These technologies are what's up and coming in the industry today.”

SONEPAR CARES

Throughout 2014, Sonepar USA participated in a variety of fundraising and community service activities with both local and national charitable organizations!  We are extremely proud of our Sonepar USA Cares efforts over the past year, combining initiatives from both our corporate offices  and operating businesses:

I have been working at Sonepar USA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, flex schedule options, casual attire, nice building, covered parking, understanding and friendly Mgt and others. Higher ups keep everyone informed with everything on the company.

    Cons

Waiting 2 yrs for a raise, sometimes have to wait to be able to learn a new aspect of the job. Doesn't go in order of how long you been here and since everyone does not do start to finish in AP, it makes it hard to get ahead and gain more experience. Because of the high volume, it's broken down into groups who handle certain parts. Also with extra workload that keeps being added on makes it stressful to get things done sometimes. Kind of robotic doing the same thing all day every day.

Data and Business Analyst Roles Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Philadelphia, PA
    No Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Sonepar USA (Philadelphia, PA) in November 2015.

    Interview

I originally applied for a data analyst role. After talking with a recruiter, I subsequently had a phone and in-person interview with the manager for that position. Supposedly, there still would've been another in-person interview with the manager's boss, but I never heard from him. Then I also got an interview for a business analyst role, in which I met the manager, their local HR person, and two people I'd be working with. It seems like a nice place to work, but their hiring process is certainly somewhat disorganized.
