I worked at Sony Pictures Animation (Less than a year)
-You get to work alongside some of the most creative professionals in the industry
-On-site cafeteria + walking distance from Trader Joes and various restaurants
-Free movie screenings
-Lack of structure: Work consists mostly of getting food and drinks for everyone. Aside from that, you're pretty much on your own.
Advice to Management
Give production interns a more structured program that allows them to participate in film production beyond getting food and drinks.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Sony Pictures Animation (Culver City, CA) in January 2016.
Short 30 minute interview, I was very impressed with the people I interviewed with, and their knowledge of the project. I was told clearly what I would be doing and what their glad for the project where. The expel I encountered were very friendly and helpful, - some of the people I met were accidental and I was impressed with their demeanor and helpfulness. This shows to me that people are happy there and that the important parts of employee morale are being tended to. Everything ran on time and to schedule as I was told by recruiting. I liked the smaller size of the studio relative to Disney or dreamworks which now seem impersonal and overly large.
