Mission: Create employment opportunities for people with significant disabilities.
SourceAmerica offers business solutions you’ll feel good about. Through our network of nonprofits, we supply products and services that meet the strictest quality standards, all at a competitive price. We match government and commercial contracts for work with nonprofits that employ a dedicated workforce to get the job done—people with significant disabilities.
SourceAmerica is rooted in AbilityOne. The Federal AbilityOne Program provides employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities, and SourceAmerica was established in 1974 to facilitate the program. We link Federal procurement customers with the nonprofits that supply AbilityOne products and services, providing contract management and support along the way.
SourceAmerica serves commercial businesses. Our contract expertise, coupled with our network of professional nonprofits, makes us a smart choice for commercial entities in need of high quality products and services. We provide competitive pricing and understand the pace and demands of doing business in the corporate world.
America’s community-based nonprofits fight for a more inclusive workplace. These well-managed nonprofits are dedicated to training and employing workers with significant disabilities, and SourceAmerica provides resources to support them in their mission. By joining the SourceAmerica network, our nonprofit partners are able to compete for contracts held by government and commercial customers.
SourceAmerica makes the American Dream more accessible to a segment of the population where nearly 80% do not have jobs. As an advocate for the disability community, SourceAmerica creates programs such as Pathways to Careers to empower people with disabilities who seek meaningful employment. We are on a mission to open minds and change hearts.

I have been working at SourceAmerica full-time (More than 10 years)
I have worked at several organizations, both commercial and nonprofit, but this is the best job I have had and the best place I have worked. I have a great relationship with my immediate supervisor and we talk almost daily. We have staff meetings weekly and also receive a weekly update from the CEO (which he clearly writes himself). We also have full organization meetings several times a year including after meetings of the Board of Directors which when all combined is a level of transparency beyond my previous experiences. All the communication makes me feel connected to the organization and help me do my job better. The leadership team had some growing pains after the new CEO took over a few years ago but has since gelled and the result is greater collaboration at both their level and at mine. I have always found my supervisor, and most other leadership, open to concerns and suggestions. The best part for me, however, is the mission and knowing that every day I am part of an organization that changes peoples lives. I get up and go to work knowing that I make a difference.
While communication and collaboration have greatly improved, there is still a significant amount of change happening in the organization. I think that is necessary for us to be successful in the future but there are still some that long for "the good old days" and who resist necessary changes.
Advice to Management
Keep working together. Continue to expand ownership and responsibility deeper in the organization and over communicating direction and strategy. Find a way to help those who may still be living in the past to get on board with the changes that will move us into the future.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at SourceAmerica (Vienna, VA) in November 2016.
Initial phone interview with HR followed up with a panel interview a few days later with HR rep and hiring manager and AVP. Panel interview lasted approx one hour via GoTo Meeting
