Courteous coworkers, excellent focus on patient care. Everyone worked together as a team and the office gossip was kept to a minimum. I enjoyed my time here. It often seems like less of a hospital and more of a big building with lots of friendly people! Although it is obviously not that, it's a great atmosphere to be a patient in if you have the misfortune of being a patient.
A little confusing to get around at first. I think this is with all employees but if you are on staff, it can be frustrating. My main issue with St. David's South Austin is it can be a little hard to move up here. Once you are in a place it seems like you can't move forward.
Advice to Management
Hire friendlier HR personnel!
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at South Austin Hospital.
Two-step hiring process, for me it was very quick and I was hired the same day. I spent time interviewing with two nurse managers, maybe because they weren't sure which floor they would need me on? I was made to feel welcome and as it was my very first RN job, I was nervous. I didn't feel like they wanted me to feel dumb when I stumbled over my interview questions. Expect a urine drug screen to be scheduled.
