Southern Health Partners – Why Work For Us?

Southern Health Partners is a leading provider of affordable medical, dental, and mental health services to inmates in county and city jail facilities. Since inception, we have built our company on a true partnership model with uncompromised quality, value, and integrity.  Currently, SHP operates in over 200 correctional facilities in 15 different states.

Our mission is "To grow, through our experience, relationships, and reputation, and continue as the leader in providing affordable inmate health care to county jails."

SHP Employees have been a key element of our success since our inception. Our associates are clearly part of the Southern Health Partners competitive advantage.

As we continue to grow, we are routinely seeking talented candidates to join the SHP Team. Rewarding opportunities are available for nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals in a variety of locations.

Our reputation draws health care professionals who look forward to change and want to be part of a well-managed correctional medical team. As such we take a great deal of pride in selecting only the best candidates. All SHP employees are subject to the guidelines for extending security clearance at the SHP facilities where they are assigned to work. Pre-employment and follow-up background checks are performed on a routine basis in addition to pre-employment and random employee drug screens. We are proud to offer a safe, secure and Drug Free Workplace for all SHP employees.

In addition to Health, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability Insurance and 401K Plans, Southern Health Partners proudly offers a number of additional benefits and perks to our employees.  As a Continuing Education Provider, we offer a minimum of 2 topics per month and a group of topics are readily available for completion upon hire and annually to ensure nurses should not have to ever incur costs for CE hours in order to renew their licensure while in our employ.  Speaking of education, we also partner with resources for additional discount opportunities and scholarship giveaways in addition to our own annual Memorial Scholarship award for nurses continuing their secondary education.  With a number of CPR Trainers on staff, your required CPR certifications can be renewed with ease or if more convenient, renewal fees can be a part of your annual training reimbursement allowance.  Scrub discounts, Paid Time Off, Holiday Pay, the list goes on...  We value our staff and their contributions.  Having a well-rounded benefit package to offer is just one of the many SHP Employee perks!

Working in a correctional setting may sound intimidating to some.  Recently, in a training meeting, we had a nurse tell the group she had always consider herself an ER nurse, but never in the ER had she been able to feel the safety she has found in working in jail.  Diversity has become a key word in recruiting, but in the correctional nursing space, it means so much more than just equal opportunity.  We have the distinct pleasure of working with medical professionals from all walks of life.  New graduates, post retirement, veterans, active military, the right nurses come to us from everywhere to find the security and autonomy of correctional medicine to be their niche.  Having the heart to provide excellent patient care to an underserved patient population brings everyone together to form a unique culture all our own.  We look forward to your finding a home with us!

Wonderful group of folks to work with always quick to respond when you have a question or any concern. I cannot say enough awesome things about my team in particular I’m a little biased...

Kinda pricy medical insurance....otherwise I have not found a lot of cons to date and have been with them a tad over a year.
