At Spark Networks, our mission is to create iconic, niche-focused brands that build and strengthen the communities they serve. We are a leading provider of community-focused services, including online personals communities for single adults that offer convenient and safe places to meet and, as a result, a unique opportunity to make special connections they may not have otherwise made. Many of these connections lead to long term relationships and—quite often—marriage.
Our first community, JDate®, was established in a West Los Angeles condominium in 1997. We are proud to say JDate has become the leading online community for Jewish singles and responsible for more Jewish marriages than all other online dating sites combined. Driven by the success of JDate, we went on to develop a variety of niche-focused online communities and now operate a network of more than 30 religious, ethnic, special interest and geographically targeted online communities including: ChristianMingle, our largest property and the leading online community for Christian singles, as well as BlackSingles.com and SilverSingles.com among many others. From Christians looking for love to seniors seeking a second shot at romance, our safe and secure online communities offer something for everyone!
As a company whose mission is to create brands that build and strengthen the communities they serve, good corporate citizenship is among the highest of our priorities. From company public service days to raising money for local and national charities, we are committed to partnering with non-profits across the country to help strengthen the many communities we serve. Examples of our non-profit service include:
Working side by side with those around us, Spark Networks hopes to ignite excitement and partnerships that benefit all!

I have been working at Spark Networks full-time (More than 3 years)
- A new management team has taken the reins and they seem very focused on excellence in our product and treating employees well
- All of the advantages of a stable, established company, with the feeling of a start-up since the new management team arrived
- Ability to make a real impact
- Great people to work with
- A new-found buzz I haven’t seen here in a while; we’re definitely moving in the right direction
I am not sure where the negative reviews are coming from. I have seen nothing from positive progress since the new management team has come on board. These people are true leaders that care about having a great company with great people. Now would be a great time to join Spark — it has the advantages of a start-up with the stability of an established company.
- There is some change and there are some growing pains, but the new people here are great
- It can take a bit of effort to steer the ship in the right direction, but it appears to be happening quickly
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you’re doing. Be transparent with employees — let us know the good and the bad. And don’t be afraid to excise people who aren’t performing well. I much prefer the newer get-it-done culture.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Spark Networks (Los Angeles, CA) in January 2017.
Applied through an employee referral. I did a phone screen with the manager, coding challenge and then an on site. I was asked a few questions about the solution I came up with for the coding challenge and then mostly behavioral questions. Interview ended with a tour of the office where I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of diversity.
