Mission: Our mission is to uncover data and build systems that fundamentally improve the work and lives of the people on our planet. The things we do may create sweeping shifts but we don’t do change for change sake - we do things that truly matter.

I have been working at Spire Global full-time (More than a year)
Pros
When I first joined Spire, I had no idea how incredible this company truly was. With each day that I am here, I am amazed by the tenacity and passion of the people here. The intelligence, the humbleness of the leaders here and the sheer magnitude of what we're doing... it's mind blowing at times.
I mean, it's a SPACE program and I'm not sure you can get any cooler than that. Right?
One of our esteemed team members is actually in isolation right now because she's on the short list for a voyage to MARS. Yes, I said Mars. What?!
In addition to the genuine authenticity of the people who work here, there is nothing more motivating than to work for a company that allows its employees to be involved in decisions and make an impact. There is a true sense of freedom and empowerment and you can feel it in the air.
Other awesome things? Well, where shall I start:
- Gorgeous loft-like office in the SOMA/mission area near all the trendy spots.
- Generous compensation and benefits, unlimited PTO, all the holidays, flexible and relaxed work environment.
- All the best tech stacks/toys
- Did I mention each employee gets to have a satellite launched that you get to name?!!! Yeah, its even in your offer letter.
- Spire week: You get to spend a whole week each year working out of any of the other global office, all expenses paid. SF, Singapore, Luxembourg or Glasgow aren't half bad places to hang for a week, I'd say :)
- Gym reimbursement
- If you're in engineering, your code will literally be in ORBIT.
- Best on boarding experience of my life. The Talent Team actually cares and go out of their way to make you feel welcome and cared for every step of the way.
- Culture is strong, the mission isn't just words on a google doc. It's real.
- Best company I've worked for in my life so far
- CEO is approachable, thoughtful and humble. He will call you personally when you join the company.
- Strong leadership without egos, which is highly rare in such a dynamic and fast-scaling company.
- Free food/drinks/catered lunches/company sponsored fun and events.
- ZERO politics or toxicity which is also extremely rare. People here are the reason I joined and the reason I'll stay. The best of the best.
- Am I gushing yet?
Cons
In any quickly growing company there are small pains like a shortage of conference rooms at times or confusion in quick pivots, but that comes with the territory. If things continue at this trajectory, there will be bumps in the road but they seem to be handled quickly and smoothly.
Advice to Management
Keep going, stay humble and don't lose that special "it" factor that we have going right now. The excitement here is infectious and mind-blowing.

Application
I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Spire Global (Seattle, WA) in May 2015.
Interview
They sent me a 90 minute code challenge on a third-party website. There are three questions and you have 90 minutes to write working solutions for all three in a language of your choice, the default being C. I never spoke with anyone over the phone, just received automated emails and eventually an invite to take the online assessment, which was absurdly difficult given the 90 minute time frame and seemed like it would be a deterrent for a lot of potential candidates.
