The pay at this company is fairly typical of a large aircraft company. Starting rates are kind of low though. And pay progression is very slow. The company has a union which is great but they never fight for their membership, the only good that Union brings really is the contract. Any comments on this site you see complaining about the union are complete lies, they have no power. The health insurance in Wichita it’s probably some of the best of any company in town, unsure how long we will get to keep that though, rumor has it they’re working to downgrade insurance next union contract.
First level managers and second level managers at this company are terrible, treat employees like they’re nothing but a number. Only aerospace company I’ve ever worked for that clearly doesn’t appreciate employees and looks for any reason to get rid of them. Employees are constantly looking over their shoulder in fear of being written up. Starting pay rates are too low, and company culture is very poor, despite having a CEO who is supposedly trying to change that. While the union contract at this company actually is pretty decent the union stewards will rarely go out of their way to help membership if a problem arises with management. Very high stress company.
Advice to Management
Respect hourly employees more, stop looking for reasons to get them in trouble that don’t make sense, stop treating them like they are the most expendable people in the company.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Spirit AeroSystems.
application filled out online from company website. received phone call to schedule interview. interviewed with hiring manager & received phone call from recruiting with an offer immediately afterward. received email instructions to for drug test and background check. after those cleared, confirmed start date by email. entire process took less than 2 weeks.
