I worked at SquareTrade as a contractor
I worked at SquareTrade last year. It was definitely some of the nicest coworkers, and management I've met at a job, and it felt like a family. The team managers cared a lot about the employees on their teams, and made each area individualized and decorated to their unique style and personality. The company provided free weekly meals, and fun events to keep employee morale high. Once a month you could get delicious lunches catered, like Pollo Tropical, or Tijuana Flats, to name a few. Every morning you could walk in to work, and no matter what, the Office Administrator that sat up front in the lobby area, was aways bubbly, friendly, and welcoming to everyone. This always made for a nice happy start to the day. The office space was cool too, with open work areas, and private phone rooms for taking calls/having personal meetings. It had bright and cheerful colors, and a huge lake and wooded area right behind the building. The entire office was covered in windows, so it was refreshing to be able to look outside and see the water, and Florida nature, especially when you are stuck inside all day. If you sat next to a window you could easily see a large heron fly by your desk, and there was also ski school in the back, so you could see people waterskiing. The two IT guys were awesome, and kept the large call center running smoothly, and ensured uninterrupted customer service all the time. They were quick to resolve any issue an employee had with their computer, and were always upbeat, friendly, and understanding about it too. This isn't always the case in every company's IT department, and so it was much appreciated. There was two trainers when I worked there, and both were very good, caring greatly about the success of the new hires. They made an excellent team, and were a class act. The training at this company was professional, very involved, and much more organized compared to other companies I've seen. It ensured employees felt comfortable before taking live calls, and kept customer satisfaction high. The lead trainer was funny, and great at motivating his class. He would go out of his way to help anyone, and wanted the entire team to be successful. If you were having a bad day he would be positive and encouraging.
It was a really busy job. It made the day go by fast though, so there was never a dull moment, which I liked.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at SquareTrade (San Francisco, CA) in October 2016.
standard interview process: screening phone call with HR, phone interview with hiring manager and onsite. Everything moved very fast and the HR made sure I was informed of any update. The only part made me uncomfortable in this process is that one of the team member is totally unprepared during my on-site, and he asked questions that does seem appropriate and respectful.
Quite far from BART, good for people live in the city as they have a muni stop nearby. Pretty competitive benefit package comparing to small-medium companies.
