Yearly review. Local managers great.
Umbrella company with big financial institution.
I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Sungard Bi-Tech in December 2010.
There were two interview stages, one a phone interview with an initial overview of the technical work involved. There were fewer questions involved and more a description of the job responsibilities.
The second stage I gave a presentation on a topic of my choosing and then went through two sets of questions. One set was for them to ask me questions, the second set was for me to ask them questions.
There were three people in the room for the presentation and all were a respectful audience. The questions were relatively basic and focused primarily on my willingness to travel and my personality. I assumed they were more interested in discovering how I communicated vs. and specific technical skills I had.
My questions for them were seemingly answered honestly but there was occasionally an odd defensiveness that would come up when I asked about support and supplied gear.
There were no negotiations, though there could have been. The initial offer meet my beginning requirements. The benefit package was a good selling point.
Negotiations are possible, though they have a cap over which they won't go over. Alternative forms of compensation don't seem to be considered.
