This is how we define assisted living: Sunrise Senior Living Assisted Living is the ideal solution for seniors who value their independence, yet need some help with daily activities, such as bathing, dressing and medication reminders. We focus on individual wellness, and encourage continued independence with a tailored plan of assistance provided by well-trained team members available 24 hours a day.

Heather joined the Human Resources team at Sunrise Senior Living in 2003. I have been working at Sunrise Senior Living full-time (More than 8 years)
Building relationships with the Residents under your care. The Community becomes like a second home. Enjoy interacting with multiple Team members
Overwhelming responsibility with minimal licensed staff to manage such frail Residents. Keep up with the competition by having onsite nurse 24/7. Requiring an RN Manager to be on call 24/7 while putting in well over a salaried 40 hr work week leaves no time for family balance. This leads to greater turnover rate costing time and money for replacement and is a huge disruption to entire Community
Advice to Management
Hold Regional staff accountable to assist and be a frequent presence in the communities. Hire ED's with healthcare background. This will have a significant impact on the overall care the Residents receive. Finance, marketing, census and budget are huge to remain in business..... just don't lose sight of that business being about people's lives and their lifelong savings. Ratings below vary depending upon which region you may be working in when seeking job advancement and Senior Management Performance. General culture is good but values are also determined according to region
The process took 4 days. I interviewed at Sunrise Senior Living (Atlanta, GA).
Administrator called to schedule the interview. He left a voicemail as I missed his call. I returned his call within 30 minutes. He called back 2 days later. He needed me to "come in tomorrow. I'm trying to squeeze everyone in tomorrow. I need this done before Monday." Ummm, okay. When I arrived to the interview, I was shocked to see the Administrator in jeans and a baggy t-shirt. I arrived about 20 mins early. The DON was supposed to be a part of the interview but she never made it. The Administrator actually had my resume mixed up with another candidate. He was asking me questions about a background that did not belong to me in the least bit. Needless to say, I guess he had already found the right candidate before I got there. What a waste of gas. Of course I didn't hear back from him. Nice guy though. Not as professional as I personally like.
