This fine tunes the skills needed to coach a team and handle the extensive responsibilities of operating a successful business.

Sales Training

Sunstate's Sales Development Program outfits our Outside Sales Representatives with the skills necessary to grow and develop their territories through building effective business relationships.

Inside Sales Training

All Inside Sales Employees begin their training and education by working through an on-the-job training program at their branch.

Mechanic Tech

To ensure excellence in construction equipment maintenance that sets the industry benchmark, Sunstate hosts service schools where equipment manufacturers provide technical training for our mechanics.

Sunstate was recognized by RER (Rental Equipment Register) as the largest privately held rental company in the United States.

Mike Watts was inducted in the American Rental Association Hall of Fame.

Sunstate Equipment Co. was ranked #1 in our category by Ranking Arizona, in addition to being an IMPACT award nominee and a finalist for the Industry Leaders of Arizona Award.

Sunstate Equipment was just named the #1 Construction Rental Company by Ranking Arizona. In fact, Sunstate has been ranked #1 sixteen times since 1999. In addition, Ranking Arizona listed Sunstate Equipment as one of the best places to work. Sunstate Equipment has been named a 2016 Gold Level Recipient of the American Heart Association’s Fit-Friendly Worksites recognition program. The award distinguishes employers who champion the health and fitness of their employees by creating a culture of physical activity and health and wellness in the workplace.

The Fit-Friendly Worksites program is a catalyst for positive change. Worksites across the country are recognized for making the health and wellness of employees a priority. The American Heart Association’s “My Heart. My Life.” initiative recognizes employers for:

  • Providing and increasing healthy eating options at the worksite
  • Promoting a wellness culture

The Sunstate Equipment Foundation, a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit charitable foundation, was recently formed as a way for Sunstate Equipment and its employees to give back to the communities in which they live and work.

The Foundation will receive half of its funding through voluntary employee contributions; with Sunstate matching those employee contributions, dollar for dollar. Employees can “sponsor” grant requests from their local communities, and funds donated or raised by Sunstate employees in their respective regions will stay in their region. This is designed to give Sunstate employees a greater impact on local charities with which they may be involved.

    I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Sunstate Equipment (Portland, OR) in June 2019.


    After a phone interview, 1 on 1 interview, 1 on 4 Interview, second phone interview, PI assessment, hand writing analysis I was offered a position. The process was more in depth than previous employers which I felt was important for hiring the right candidate.
