Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

"Good as a starting point"

Pros

The company with the very laid back culture, mostly no micromanaging (but ,of course, it depends). I would say that it is a good starting point if you don't have tons of experience.

Cons

Don't expect to grow career-wise fast due to cronyism and managerial folks being there for years and with no plans to leave their positions.

Advice to Management

Give the employees a clear plan for success and growth.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Super Free Games (San Francisco, CA) in Aug 2019

    Interview

    - 3 separate phone screenings, last of which was rescheduled on me twice ~5 minutes prior to the scheduled time.

    - In-office interview: 4 hours, no breaks, no heads-up prior of the length or context (make sure to eat!).

As a developer I was prepared for a mix of technical and psychology evaluations, but the entirety was psych across ~10 people, ending with a 1-on-1 with the CEO, and concluding with the co-founder.
    Interview

You're given a million dollars and 10 engineers to start a business, describe your approach and how you use those resources.
