I worked at Superunion full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Everyone is really respectful and it has a really good vibe. The clients are big and this gives you some name. The global agency has been put great work out in the world with the new structure and creativity is being elevated. Learned a lot in two of their offices, being in NY most of the time. Another nice thing is that they put their designers and senior designers out in the world and push them to be client facing, be part of work trips and other career opportunities in general. The current management is also bringing some interesting skills with specialized people in 3D, motion and creative technology. Having this structure makes a big difference for the designers.

    Cons

The agency in new york have a heavy corporate legacy that is good for CV and experience, but sometimes hard to put the best work out there. Fortunately this is changing a lot with the new agency and directions and some really interesting clients are coming to the agency. It’s nice to have the balance.

    Advice to Management

Keep moving in this direction on finding the balance on the heavy big clients that pays the bill with the new sexy clients that are keeping all fresh. And most important…keep being nice to people like it happens now. People value this a lot.

    Design Director Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Superunion (New York, NY) in August 2018.

    Interview

Met with four senior team members at first - most seem new to the company, with big ambitions. Interesting mix of clients/projects. I came in a second time to meet two others on the team that I would be working closely with.

    Interview Questions

    • Interested in opinion of small, specialty shops vs one-stop shops for creative agencies. Asked what I think the future of branding is.   Answer Question
