  • Suzy is a NYC SaaS company, so when we heard that Amazon chose NewYork, we watched and waited. Whenever big tech companies make these decisions, it creates immediate competition for great talent, which is always good for the local talent community.

    We learned about Amazon's recent decision to pull out of these plans, so we went to Suzy and asked New Yorkers - "Are you disappointed that Amazon has canceled its plans to expand in New York?"

    64% of the respondents said that they were disappointed in the decision and 36% said they were not. So a clear majority of New Yorkers are not happy with how this played out. Local politicians and the folks at Amazon should have used Suzy to get a pulse from the local community.

    Tanya Kolosova is an expert in actionable analytics and software development and has served as Sr. Vice President of Analytics at IPG, Vice President at Nielsen, a Principal Researcher at Yahoo!

    Tanya has extensive knowledge of machine-learning, design, and analysis of statistical experiments, advertisement and audience intelligence, survey analysis, market-mix modeling, and has worked in a variety of industries like online and offline retail, telecom, finance, fashion and more.

    Tanya also co-authored two books on statistical analysis and metadata-based applications development with SAS which are used in universities globally. She was featured in Forbes Magazine for her work for GAP.

    I have been working at Suzy full-time (Less than a year)


    I haven't been with them long but so far this is the best job i have ever had ! i don't dread going to work its enjoyable everyone i have talked to is awesome. The benefits the flexible schedule & the fact that you don't get treated like a child ( which most jobs do). So far what i've seen is do your job and they will take care of you the way a employer should, because they know if you have happy employees you have a properly working company with people that care about the business this isnt just a paycheck job this is a place you start a career! I love this job !

    I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Suzy (New York, NY) in May 2014.


    Found the job listing via LinkedIn and received an email almost immediately later that night for a phone interview. It went well, and even though I apparently wasn't as qualified as their typical applicant, I was contacted because my cover letter was strong (**note this!). Scheduled an in-office interview for later that week, during which I met with five people in my department, including the internal recruiter with whom I originally spoke. Each interview was about 30 to 45 minutes, but they weren't difficult. Mostly conversational so that both of us could learn about each other. Make sure to come prepared with questions! This is vital, if only to keep the conversation going, and demonstrates that you've done some good preparation.

    It was a long marathon with a five minute lunch break (...), but I found the entire office to be very nice, pleasant, and comfortable. It's open, and they interacted pretty freely with me as I waited between my interviews. The work hard-play hard environment was definitely evident and they really tried to emphasize the "company attitude," where individuals really have to just take responsibility for their own actions. In general, the entire process just made me more excited to be part of this company.

    • There were no curveballs, especially for the position for which I was interviewing. At the end, I was asked if I liked dogs (they have two dogs on an almost daily basis)!   Answer Question


    Benefits are immediate on the first day and I received the upper end of the salary range for this position, so I did not negotiate this. However, I had to negotiate starting date- they wanted me to start one week after I graduated, but because I had some personal matters to attend to during that week and into the next, I had to push for an extra week. This process was a little rocky- I was made to feel guilty about starting a week later than they liked, saying that it was fine, but it just meant that my colleagues would be doing more work while I wasn't there. All true, but it might be even worse to have someone start working when she's already burnt out.
