Mission: Swiss Re continues to sharpen its focus on core business. Our mission is clear and simple: to be the leading player in the wholesale re/insurance industry.
The Swiss Re Group is a leading wholesale provider of reinsurance, insurance and other insurance-based forms of risk transfer. Dealing directly and working through brokers, its global client base consists of insurance companies, mid-to-large-sized corporations and public sector clients.
From standard products to tailor-made coverage across all lines of business, Swiss Re deploys its capital strength, expertise and innovation power to enable the risk-taking upon which growth and progress depends.
Founded in Zurich, Switzerland in 1863, Swiss Re has operations across the globe. Our largest clients, too, have a global presence. To remain the provider of choice for these clients we must align our organisation to their needs. Consequently, we are the only reinsurer with a client-centric model, that is with teams built around a client on a global basis.
Swiss Re is a knowledge company. We apply that knowledge to help clients, shareholders and society.
Risk-taking is vital for human progress. People succeed and businesses expand because of our determination to move forward despite uncertainty. Swiss Re is here to protect and enable progress.
We make the world more resilient.
Together, we apply fresh perspectives, knowledge and capital to anticipate and manage risk. That's how we create smarter solutions fo our clients, helping the world rebuild, renew and move forward.

Thank you for considering a career at Swiss Re, one of the world’s leading reinsurance companies.
We enable the risk-taking that is essential to enterprise and progress. But there’s much more to our business than meets the eye. Natural disasters, pandemics or computer crime are only a few of the issues we deal with on a day-to-day basis. Our size and global presence, combined with a staff of outstanding people from a rich variety of backgrounds around the world, makes for a fascinating organisation and a fantastic work environment.
We are a company full of bright people who are all experts in their fields – whether they are trained in science, philosophy, law, finance, medicine or something totally different. Every year we give a group of bright and highly skilled people like yourself the opportunity to discover the world from Swiss Re’s perspective.
Our recruiting process is the same worldwide. When applying for a position in a region/country, please be sure that you hold a currently valid work permit for the region/country in question.
Swiss Re's reputation for excellence and innovation is no coincidence. We welcome professionals to join our organization and develop not only the company but also themselves. Developing and executing our services of the highest quality level is the work of thousands of outstanding people all over the world – our employees. We recruit individuals with the potential to contribute their skills, diversity and talents to a work culture shaped by mutual respect. Whether you are an experienced (re-)insurance specialist, finance professional, or a successful and motivated manager, if you believe expectations are there to be exceeded, we welcome you to join our team.
At Swiss Re we believe career development is a shared responsibility between the employee, line manager and the Company. A career in our dynamic and global work environment is much more than hierarchical progress, it means life-long learning. It isn't a one-time event, but rather a series of events that take place every time a step is taken towards personal development and career goals.
Swiss Re has always had a tradition of responsible and effective contribution to society and the world we work in. The Swiss Re Foundation is making visible and tangible the social and humanitarian values of Swiss Re, co-ordinating and channelling effort and making sure its benefit reaches as far as it can.
Our goal is to address social and humanitarian problems worldwide and build local capacity to face them. The issues we address are social, economic and ecological imbalances with a range of causes, including natural disaster, climate change, water, population growth and pandemic. We collaborate long-term on projects and also provide emergency aid. Finally, we carry out work locally and in Swiss Re’s communities.
Why we are here
We work in climate, water, natural catastrophes, and society to alleviate suffering and help communities become more resilient.
What we do
Increasing resilience is just as important as finance, making the difference between surviving this time, and surviving every time.
Working with us
The Swiss Re Foundation works through funding, partnerships, and Swiss Re employee volunteering and secondment.
I have been working at Swiss Re full-time (More than 10 years)
A professional company, top of class. Good benefits, facilities and staff events, supports charity of the year, has a sports and social club. Also promotes personal development and growth and there's many career opportunities within the organisation if you're happy to travel. New office spaces promotes collaboration and flexible working which is nice.
Global company, has a matrix/model. Often slow to implement and manage change due to complexity. Zurich centralised which can mean longer working hours to fit their hours, no overtime is paid to UK employees which can cause a challenge with work and life balance.
Advice to Management
Recognise and reward global team members based outside of zürich at associate and assistant vice president level who work longer hours to fit Zurich and other regional timezones to support key strategic projects for the group.
The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Swiss Re.
The HR intake part of the interview process was very bad. People were not polite and i was surprised to see this was the first introduction of their culture. Based on what i had heard in the industry, i expected something different
