Mission: Synthego’s vision is to turn biology into an information science, with the ultimate goal of dramatically extending the healthy human lifespan.
Synthego builds advanced bioinformatics and automated hardware platforms to create next-generation ...
Founded by former SpaceX engineers, Synthego is a leading provider of genome engineering solutions. The company’s flagship product, CRISPRevolution, is a portfolio of synthetic RNA designed for CRISPR genome editing and research.
Synthego’s vision is to bring precision and automation to genome engineering, enabling rapid and cost-effective research with consistent results for every scientist.
Headquartered in Silicon Valley, California, Synthego customers include leading institutions in 31 countries around the world, and 9 of the top 10 global biology universities.
We envision the biological laboratory as a construct of discrete, composable modules, much like a computer. We’re building the infrastructure – software, hardware and scientific protocol – to make this a reality.
Our goal is simple: we want to significantly lower the barrier to entry for life sciences research by assembling the groundwork for a decentralized, software-driven, massively parallel world of research.
Our dream is big. We not only want to bring biology into the digital age, we intend to create a revolution in science. Imagine a single scientist running their own fully-automated laboratory at low cost, performing millions of controlled, repeatable experiments per day without human error. We’re building that future.
Engineering and science are at the heart of Synthego. Our team includes former employees of organizations like SpaceX and NASA, as well as experienced veterans in the biotech, manufacturing and hi-tech industries.
We love working with multi-disciplinary visionaries who have completed awesome projects and can convert ideas into reality.
Are you a true believer that Bioengineering is the future, and CRISPR is only the beginning? We are looking for someone who is inspired by our mission and who would fit in well with the collaborative, rigorous and entrepreneurial spirit of the company culture.
I have been working at Synthego full-time
Pros include medical insurance other than Kaiser, very welcoming staff, fully stocked kitchens, lunch/dinner provided, winter access to a lodge in Tahoe, general willingness to help each other, and more.
It's a startup and currently experiencing some growing pains but staff are cohesive and perseverant.
Advice to Management
Continue to listen and respond to what employees have to say, especially those in operations/ production.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Synthego in March 2016.
Interviewed w/manager for roughly 30 minutes then accepted the position . Wasn't much of a decision because I chose it right away and never looked back since. As I said before a great Company to be with for many years to come!
