Since acquiring Systems Alliance in 2003, Ric has transformed the company by applying expertise and processes he mastered while leading the North American Information, Communication and Entertainment IT Solutions Consulting practice for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Prior to PwC, Ric was founder and president of Capital Systems, Ltd., a regional IT consulting firm that successfully developed and implemented imaging projects for clients in the banking, legal and defense industries. Ric has launched and funded several start-up businesses at various times during his career.
Ric earned a BS in Business Management from the University of Baltimore. He currently serves on the technology industry advisory board for the Community College of Baltimore County and has been invited to lecture MBA and undergrad students on IT industry trends and Entrepreneurial topics at Cornell, Loyola, UMBC and CCBC.
Leads the overall design, development, and support of SAI’s software products portfolio. He complements his high-tech professional interests with low-tech personal interests including blacksmithing, weightlifting, and bass guitar.
Josh Crone has more than a decade of experience as a leader in technology. Prior to joining SAI, Josh served as Vice President of Technical Services at Penguin Random House. In this role, Josh provided strategic direction and practical guidance for all aspects of technology. He has extensive experience in the design, implementation, and support of several large-scale web, e-commerce, and back office applications for both internal and external clients.

Being a smaller company, SAI offers opportunities to work, learn, and grow your skills in many areas of business. I began working at SAI immediately after graduation and believe I have been exposed to much more than what I would have at other firms.
SAI really makes an effort to put its employees first. The newly-renovated open office makes for a great space to work. Management is very receptive to feedback. Company is in growth mode and it looks like great things are on the horizon.
Working long hours is occasionally required, but it doesn't ever go unappreciated/unrewarded.
Advice to Management
Really appreciate transparency throughout the entire business. While communication across teams is great, each team almost seems to be siloed off from one another in terms of culture. Might be worth it to investigate ways to improve that.
I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Systems Alliance (Hunt Valley, MD) in March 2017.
Challenging but worthwhile.
After applying on the website, I got an email from the CEO with questions and I had to choose a certain number to answer. Then, I had to leave a sample sales voicemail on the CEO's phone (I'd venture to say that not all positions would have to do this, but I applied for sales development). After that, I had in-person, 1v1 interviews with 5 people. I could tell were genuinely trying to get to know me to determine if it was a good fit, as opposed to just what my skills were. Clearly, with testing through the email questions, the VM, and the in-person interview, they are diligent about the type of people they hire to make sure the culture stays amazing.
