I worked at TMX Group full-time
The development and opportunities vary greatly; I enjoyed working with my team and had exposure to senior management. The organization is relatively flat, so if you work hard it will be noticed. Good life balance. Decent benefits. If you are client facing, there is excellent exposure to build relationships.
The company has a lot of people who need to be shuffled. There are many people with a utility attitude and have been promoted over the years. In some cases, it's great and there is a lot of history that is maintained but in some ways the groups are led by poor leaders/insecure leaders that teach poor behavior that isn't seen in growth companies. The compensation is on the lower side. The importance of courses and education has taken a step back.
Advice to Management
Keep the flat org structure but consider expanding to perks that would keep strong performers which includes higher pay and better rewards.
I applied through other source. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at TMX Group (Toronto, ON (Canada)) in October 2016.
This is one of the least impressive interviews I've ever been on.
Most communication was done via email, not by phone...that was a red flag.
No response after the interview then I received a canned email response with incomplete statements and grammar errors, two weeks later. The email was the type you receive after responding to an online ad....they were not bothered to develop an email response specifically for candidates they have interviewed.
Major ref flag.....I left the interview with the sense the position was not definite.
I honestly did not expect to get a response and shocked they sent the canned response meant for online applications....I did not apply online!
