    I worked at Tabcorp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - easy to sell anything using agile buzzwords (up to you to decide whether it's Pros or Cons)
    - long term contract opportunities with decent pay
    - work life balance

    Cons

    - roles are not defined properly and their responsibilities overlap with each other, resulting
         - either multiple team members are trying to improve the same thing or
         - no one is trying to improve anything or
         - they are trying to improve multiple things simultaneously
    - management does not involve you while making decisions which directly or indirectly impact you or your team (if you are in leadership role). Also the decisions do not get communicated on timely manner and it gets communicated by some team member instead of the management
    - hierarchical organisation. Too much reporting
    - contractors to perms ratio is very high so very challenging to get the right feedback and improve existing process/culture

    Advice to Management

    - define the role and responsibilities properly and communicate it to everyone in the team
    - communicate decisions/news to the teams on timely manner
    - hire more perms
    - improve feedback mechanism

    I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Tabcorp (Sydney (Australia)) in June 2016.

    Interview

    First, a phone call from their hiring manager to set up a date for a phone interview. Then the interview itself in 5 days or so. Took around 45 minutes. It was essentially a phone test: they asked to solve a few probability problems (along the lines "given this and that, what is the probability of xxx"), then some machine learning questions, then some questions related to programming.

    • Suppose there's a round table in a room and you have to randomly sit 6 people around it. What is the probability that two specific persons will end up sitting next to one another?   Answer Question
    • Suppose that you flip a coin 10 times and observe that you got heads 7 times out of 10. What does it mean? If you suspect that the coin may be biased, how would you check that?   Answer Question
