I have been working at Tantalus full-time (More than 5 years)
Fast growing but still small company with big aspirations and a unique position. Individuals can really make a difference if they have enough time.
No work life balance for the majority of US employees; many are burning out quickly, feeling unimportant and under valued.
Advice to Management
Most US employees have been teetering on the brink of burnout for the past couple years. Feelings of unimportance and being under valued are rising quickly.
Listen to employees who are expressing a need for new and extended resources. The company's highest performing and most committed employees rarely complain about the workload and remain continuously focused on making positive contributions to the future of Tantalus, despite the status quo approach they see Tantalus taking to their compensation and the non-existent work life balance affecting their personal relationships.
Our most dedicated team members are still here because they are truly committed to the future of Tantalus, have put a great deal of themselves into where we are today and they know they are not alone in their struggle here. Most are putting in 75-80+ hours every single week without exception in an attempt to keep up with individual and team workloads that doubled long before the acquisition of Energate, which has actually resulted in reducing Energate employee workloads but further expanding the workloads and stress placed on the team members they are offloading to.
The commitment, value and skill sets brought by some employees are not immediately or easily replaceable and employees / co-workers like this are hard to find. Their value is not a number you can pull from or compare to an industry standard salary chart. If something doesn't change soon, burnout and the feeling of unimportance is going to overtake the loyalty and commitment of some who will be very difficult to replace when they decide to move on and accept the offer of a competitor.
I applied in-person. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Tantalus (Raleigh, NC).
Lengthy and thorough process. A series of 5 interviews to ensure you are a good fit. Has since implemented a personality assessment to ensure compatibility with other personalities within the company,
