Pros

Some great people passionate about improving the lives of young people. Great perks include flexible working/work from home, vitality healthcare and associated employee perks, office shuts for Christmas also.

    Cons

Some very bad managers who promote 'friends' opposed to staff who have made great professional achievements. Not a very diverse workforce either.

    Advice to Management

Be careful who you make a manager - there are specific skills associated with great managers. If the managers you appoint cause your employees to leave, you should rethink these decisions.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Teach First in May 2020.

    Interview

Zoom development centre. Consists of 3 different sections. There was a competency based interview which lasted around 30-40 minutes. There was a group task and finally I was asked to deliver a 4 minute teaching episode. There were also 2 reflection sessions during the day.

  • Yesterday, as part of a series of events for LGBT History Month, we welcomed YouTuber and children’s author Olly Pike to our London office. Creator of PopnOlly he chatted about his experiences creating resources that help parents, carers and teachers explain equality and acceptance to young people.

  • Interested in flexible working? Did you know nearly all our roles are flexible by default? Meaning you can ask about flexible working during the recruitment process, and you don't need to wait six months to put in a request when you start. Over a 100 of us already have a formal flexible working pattern in place. And many of us make use of our agile working policy, which gives our people the flexibility to flex hours and location of work. Take a look at our job descriptions. If you see this bit about flexible working we're open to hearing your ideas about how it can be done (job share, reduced hours, flexible hours and more).
