    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at TekShapers (New York, NY).

    Interview

This is a recruiting company. They called me for an IT job that I applied to online, and things seem enthusiastic immediately, on the same day. After speaking twice with a recruiter, she passed me over to her manager. I spoke again to the lady and she actually asked me when did I obtain my two University degrees AND my birthday. I told her I had never been asked that ever while looking for work. I did tell her my birthday and she said a contact person at the client where they wanted a technician, would be reaching out - someone from the actual company (their business client) to speak to me. I certainly believe she -they- based it on my age and discriminated against me as I never heard back from them. I'm in my mid-thirties though look younger, etc. This is a first for me, in a way it is good that it happened and to be on guard for these type of companies and people and what the job market may look like as we get older. I wish the phone conversation had been recorded to expose them in a very public way. But one never knows. The company appears to be staff by Indians due to the accent.

    Interview Questions

    • Besides the basics relevant to the job, they asked when did I obtain my college degrees and my birthday. We all know these are big no-no to ask from an employer.   1 Answer
