  1. Intern Interview

    Difficult Interview

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Temasek (London, England) in Nov 2021

Initial application form with cover letter, then asked to complete online tests if succesful, followed by a video interview. Then you have 1 weekend to prepare a case study (stock pitch presentation).

If you are selected for super day, this involves 3 interviews :
-1 HR (30 mins. Motivational, easy)
-1 case study Q&A (45 mins. I had very uninterested interviewers who didn't react at all to any of the answers I gave them and moved straight onto another question, so it was tricky to gauge how I well did in this)
-1 business/technical interview (45 mins. Nicer interviewers here but the questions were still very difficult despite some prompts. You need to know financial statements and balance sheets top to bottom (which I think is stupid because it doesn't show ability to think on the spot, you can just Google this).

Only the HR interviewer left time for me to ask 1 question at the end. Her answer was very short.

Given how labour intensive the process was, it was incredibly rude that I never received a rejection email - I didn't hear anything back at all after my interviews. I wouldn't want to work here

What are 3 you would value a company and why? What is the difference between enterprise value and equity value and when is it better to use one or the other? Would you ever do an LBO on a loss making company? What revenue growing strategies can be used in an LBO (as opposed to cost cutting)? Why is leverage used in buyouts? What makes up operating income and what do you subtract from it? What types of income get left out of operating income and why? What type of cost is R&D? What is free cash flow? Why Temasek? When have you solved a problem in a creative way? Why do you like researching private companies moe than public companies? Walk me through your CV
