I have been working at The Arc full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Working alongside individuals, advocacy, community networking, little oversight regarding making your schedule.

    Cons

A lot of the senior and regional directors are so far removed from working with individuals that they don't think of how the policies affect the individuals we serve. Senior and regional directors have mostly been in their positions for years and seem to have no fear of not doing a great job or losing their job. There is very little training and supervisors do not provide supervision appropriately.

    Advice to Management

Give feedback, be more engaged with employees and show appreciation for the work they do. Also, follow up with community providers and ask how The Arc can improve quality of services.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at The Arc (New York, NY).

    Interview

Go into HR for first interview then go to the house supervisor for second , fingerprints and physical needed. The process takes about a good month because it takes so long to get fingerprinted and for them to put the paperwork in
