The BOSS Group was founded in 1988 by Linda Wein and Rossi Bonugli, two principals of a graphics production house. They relied on part-time staff to support ebbs and flows in their design business and then sought to help those staffers find other employment when not needed at their shop. Envisioning that other organizations could benefit from a trusted source for well-qualified temporary staff, they founded BOSS Temps (now The BOSS Group) to focus exclusively on human capital solutions for the creative profession.

Since then, The BOSS Group has grown into a leading creative staffing expert with offices throughout the United States. Still, our focus remains on advocating the creative professional by sourcing qualified interactive, creative and marketing talent for employers and by helping the creative professional secure a steady stream of work.

    Pros

    friendly and welcoming atmosphere; motivating team with collaborative, can-do attitudes; proven ability to grow your career within the company; opportunities to learn and develop new skills; casual attire; leave at 3pm on Fridays!

    Cons

    Staffing in general (not just with TBG) is not a super consistent industry-- there are super busy times which are great, but that also comes with some lulls and super slow times.

    Advice to Management

    Across the board, I think management is great. All the "higher ups" have been with The BOSS Group for a number of years, so not only do they know the industry but know the specific in's and out's of TBG as well. A number of them have been in the positions they now manage, so training is effective and their insight is meaningful.
    My direct manager is easily the best manager I've had. She sets a great example of hard work, diligence and success. She is also always available if you need her help, advice, or just need to talk. She also sets measurable goals relevant to the career path I want to follow, which truly means a lot. My only advice would be to keep doing what she's doing!

    I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at The BOSS Group (Chicago, IL) in October 2016.

    Interview

    Very thorough process, yet all made me feel at ease and welcomed. There were great questions, yet they weren't trick questions, they genuinely wanted to get to know me and discover if I was the right fit. I went through a phone screening with the recruiter, followed by a phone screening with my immediate boss, and an in-person interview with the person my boss reports to. The progression was natural and allowed me to learn more about the company, and also validated my interest in the company.
