    contact tracer Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at The Bachrach Group (New York, NY) in May 2020.

    Interview

I am here to discuss the disappointing and unprofessional hiring process for the position of Contact Tracer in NYC. TBG handled this hiring in the most unprofessional way possible. The lack of transparency, false promises, and disrespect towards applicants is shocking.

After applying to the initial positing with a CV and resume, I was sent a written set of questions. After answering those questions and further describing my experience in relation to the role, I was then told I was submitted for the position. I was given the salary and information and documents entailing benefits. I began the onboarding process which involved submitting my social security card, IDs, W4, I9, consent for a background check and other paperwork in what seemed to be a straightforward process. Bachrach said offer letters from H&H were on their way. Then the TBG disappeared. She didn't respond to emails for over two weeks, and I know this is true for other applicants. She did not respond to phone calls.

On June 8th, after 20 days without contact, Bachrach asked applicants to update if we had started working or were still waiting. I responded, and received no further information from her. Then I read on an online forum that all hiring for contact tracer positions had come to a hold, despite applicants submitting their materials a month ago and being told to wait for the offer letter. I attempted to make contact once more, and was told in a one line email that all hiring is on hold.

Now here is my chief complaint-If I did not get a job, fine. What I do not understand and what is unacceptable is Bachrach recruiters telling applicants they have a job, submitting paperwork, and telling them to wait. Then upon TBG discovering that applicants no longer can have that job, they do not update them on the process except when specifically asked. It is unacceptable to fall out of contact for weeks. The lack of transparency and professionalism is shameful.

Where is the mass email to inform applicants that they no longer had the position they were told they had? Why is it that you leave applicants confused and without updates or communication for weeks? They led countless people to believe they had a confirmed position and stop seeking other employment in the middle of a global pandemic! Why are you not updating applicants that hiring has ceased for a position they were told they had, unless asked?

I imagine now Bachrach will say nothing was confirmed until we got the offer letter, however if anyone saw the emails they sent, they too would have believed they had a job. They just kept saying wait for the offer letters, as if it was a matter of WHEN not IF. Shame on TBG.
