The Berry Company – Why Work For Us?

Vivial is a groundbreaking ad tech company that offers a full range of customer engagement tools to help businesses enhance the way they connect with customers, build loyalty, manage content and track results. We help businesses of all types increase their visibility using turn-key solutions, allowing our customers to get back to running their business while we work behind the scenes to get them results.

Vivial’s mission is to help our customers grow their business, whether that is through our easy-to-use and affordable local marketing technology or a custom marketing campaign that we create, implement and monitor. Easily said, Vivial makes the complex simple.

Vivial Corporate Responsibility

Vivial is committed to playing a positive role in local communities. We value the neighborhoods where we work and live, and look for opportunities to help serve and support those areas. It’s as important to us as supporting our local business partners. We do this by supporting visionary nonprofit organizations that are:

  • Honoring active and retired military men and women throughout the U.S.
  • Supporting the educational system and developing future leaders
  • Encouraging community service where our employees live and work

Small Business, Big Outcome

At Vivial we love small business – after all, they are the lifeblood of the local community and the U.S. economy. But we consider ourselves more than just business partners. We work hand-in-hand with local businesses to foster community involvement and help maintain a healthy environment.

As a directory publisher, we are committed to raising awareness about sustainability and protecting the local environment. It’s very important to us that our phone directories are published, distributed and disposed of in an environmentally friendly way. We seek to minimize our environmental impact while continuing to meet the needs of the businesses and communities we serve.

In 2011, Vivial won the prestigious national Communitas Award for “Green Initiatives” for our directory recycling program.

We’re always on the lookout for smart and motivated salespeople, account reps, developers, engineers, and the all-important support positions to keep our customers delighted with Vivial. If you excel at these, or other roles, by all means get in touch with us.

The benefits of working at Vivial.

In addition to a stimulating and fun work environment, we offer a comprehensive benefits and compensation plan, with great medical and dental coverage, plus an impressive 401(k) program. That’s why we have been recognized by Dayton Business Journal and Hawaii Business in their Best Places to Work issues. And if travel is in your blood, you’ll be glad to hear we have sales offices throughout the U.S.

I worked at The Berry Company (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    -Decent Commission Structure
    -Good Car Allowance
    -Decent Benefits
    -Good 401k match
    -Great Co-Workers

    Cons

-Lots of Travel and Time away from home
-Very Low Base Pay for amount of travel
-Never receive any raise on base pay (if I did I would have never left)
-Company wants to push LocalVox in markets where it doesn't make sense

    Advice to Management

Listen to the reps and managers who have worked the markets for the past 4-5 years. In some of the southern rural markets, online content management for several hundred dollars per month is not going to sell when you can barely even get a cell phone signal there.

Pay premise reps a base pay comparable to what competitors are paying. I was able to more than double my base pay when I left and I am no longer traveling 85% of the time away from home.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at The Berry Company.

    Interview

It was very thorough. Started with a phone interview, then an in-person interview. I did a mock sales pitch during the interview, that was fun. The folks who interviewed me were not interrogative or off-putting, it was very easy to come in and have a conversation with them.
