Glenn Horton, CPCU

Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board

The Horton Group is one of the largest privately-owned insurance brokers in Illinois and one of the top 60 brokers in the United States. "I have never lost sight of my entrepreneurial roots," Glenn says. "Helping larger, progressive companies address their intricate insurance, risk management and employee benefit needs is something I remain passionate about."

Founded in 1971, The Horton Group's success can be attributed to both organic growth and acquisitions, the latter which are carefully made. "We do not make acquisitions for the sake of growth alone," Glenn explains. "It must make strategic sense."

"We concentrate on Performance, Excellence, Acquisitions and New Client Development. We adopted this four-part strategy to help us achieve our continued growth,"

The Horton Group's primary focus is providing insurance solutions to companies with complex needs and limited resources. Dan Horton, CRM, CRIS, MBA

President and Chief Sales Officer

Dan is responsible for all insurance sales and client service operations throughout the organization. Dan brings with him over 15 years insurance experience, working in all areas of the business – a variety of service, sales, and operations roles over the past decade. 

Soon after joining Horton, Dan moved into a sales role in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin branch and quickly earned a promotion by becoming a Vice President in Horton’s Risk Advisory Solutions department. By 2013, Dan was named Construction Practice Group Leader, doubling the agency’s revenue, all while building a team dedicated to the sales and service of one of the agency’s largest practices. In 2014, Dan spearheaded the agency’s rebranding as Chief Marketing Officer where he oversaw strategic marketing, brand awareness, sales enablement and joined the executive leadership team. Over those years, the agency doubled in size, and by 2016, there was a need to bring all the departments together, and Dan was promoted to Chief Sales Officer.

“Our clients will continue to drive us, and it is most important that we continue to lead them to their highest level of performance,” states Dan.

His passion for deploying new and innovative ways to service clients while also inspiring, energizing and connections with employees and customers helps project Horton onto its next chapter.

Dan believes that business owners should consider insurance, risk management, and employee benefits as an asset and an investment as critical as any other in their portfolio. Many business owners are unaware how the broader economic, political, demographical and legal trends can impact the success of their risk management and employee benefit plans. Some CEOs of mid-sized businesses find themselves facing challenges that are similar to those of Fortune 1000 firms, but often without the experience or resources to properly address them.
 

 Tricia Pucek, MAS

Chief Financial Officer

As CFO, Tricia is responsible for overall financial management of the company including financial performance reporting, budgeting, and long-range planning. Tricia plays a key leadership role on the executive team guiding the business to the next level of success by identifying business drivers and growth opportunities.

Before joining Horton, Tricia had spent over nine years at Hub International as the Corporate Controller. In this role, Tricia was charged with managing a private equity owned international insurance brokerage with over $1.0 billion in annual revenues, responsible for all aspects of corporate accounting and external financial reporting for the billion dollar, private equity owned, agency. In addition to extensive expertise in accounting, specifically within the insurance brokerage space, Tricia brings to Horton experience successfully integrating an ERP system within the agency environment, building reporting tools and templates for internal analyses, restructuring reporting, M&A accounting and designing a business development center ROI tracker.

“An exceptional experience for clients is essential,” said Tricia. “Horton’s success is dependent on driving innovation and customer service. It is key that service must continue to be at the forefront of our goals and vision. Without our clients, we simply cannot be successful.”

Tricia views her role as an opportunity to build on Horton’s existing foundation of strong financial leadership where she will combine her business acumen to identify business drivers, understand the complex issues, suggest process improvements and ultimately drive results to support the agency’s vision.

Tricia holds bachelor and master degrees in Accountancy from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign - College of Business.


Michelle Trueblood

Chief Human Resources Officer

 Michelle is responsible for leading Horton’s most valuable assets – its employees – to their highest level of performance. Michelle heads a dynamic team that fosters training innovation, professional leadership, and employee engagement.

To Michelle, all of her past positions have strengthened her ability to work well with others and build high-performance teams. As a former teacher and lobbyist, Michelle also learned the importance of being a good communicator and working under pressure in challenging environments.

“Looking back on my career, I’ve been fortunate to have worked with some amazing people,” says Michelle. “I’ve chosen wise mentors and been given opportunities I could only have dreamed of when I was growing up.”

At Horton, Michelle is known for her abilities as a change agent, her willingness to speak candidly, and her commitment to promoting a culture of accountability and integrity. In both her professional and personal lives, Michelle likes to surround herself with quality people who offer different perspectives.

For Michelle, the most rewarding aspect of her position at Horton is being able to build strong interpersonal relationships.

“I’ve always been passionate about being good to others, hiring committed people and fostering a team environment,” says Michelle. “I’m happy when our teams are thriving!”

Received no feedback until I was offered second interview for second opening in two months later. Interviewed Second round. Third round was brief interview with supervisor and job offer with recruiter.
