November 17, 2017
As of November 2017, Menninger has received its fourth designation as a Pathways to Excellence® hospital! This designation is made by the American Nurses Credentialing Center on a triennial basis to recognize ideal practice environments where nurses excel. Menninger was the first free-standing psychiatric hospital to earn the Pathways to Excellence® designation, which it first received in 2007.
A great deal of effort goes into the application for the designation in addition to the day-to-day excellence that is Menninger nursing. More than 80% of Menninger Nursing staff completed the required survey to validate that the application that our nurses are empowered, have a voice in governance, and have the systems and tools necessary to deliver the highest quality of care.

The Texas Nurses Association District 9 (Houston area) announced the recipients of its Outstanding Nurses honor November 9 at a celebration in Houston. Among the recipients were Menninger nurses Jennifer M. Jackson, MSN, RN-BC, NE-BC, pictured left, and Cheryl Buteaux, MSN, RN, right.
Jackson is the nurse manager of the Professionals Program, while Buteaux is the nurse manager of our Hope Program for Adults.
Menninger nurses who have a strong track record of receiving the Outstanding Nurse Award, as 11 current and former nurses have been honored with this award.
In addition, the TNA District 9 added a new award, Hurricane Harvey Heroes, this year. Menninger nurses named Hurricane Harvey Heroes were Eric Cool, Carolyn Cullors, Lauren Spring, Marilyn Warnock and Sarah Waterwall.
