I worked at The Morning Call full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great products- that work well for advertisers- never felt like I was being pushy or overally agressive when calling on prospective clients because I knew it would work for them. Lots of options for every advertiser- small to large. Big office with very diverse staff. They are very involved in the local community, always tons of fun events going on. Lots of great people on the team.

    Cons

The industry- while I think The Morning Call has a great job in diversifying it's portfolio of products (digital, direct mail, ect).... newspaper revenue is declining.

    Advice to Management

Get out in the field and meet with customers more- that is how you get the great ideas!

    Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at The Morning Call (Allentown, PA) in January 2014.

    Interview

Resumes are sent to management, if they like your resume the recruiter wil have a phone interview with you. If you pass that, you'll be invited in for a face to face interview with two managers. if your interview went well, you'll have a second interview with management.

If you're offered a position, you need to pass a drug test, background check including driving record.

Our process is long, don't expect a quick turnaround.

    Interview Questions

    • Tell me about your biggest success? What did you do to overcome any hurdles? How do you feel about cold calling, where do you see yourself in five years, what are your ultimate goals, what motivates you, etc.

What did you like about your previous job, why did you leave. If you're a college student they will want to know what you did for employment, clubs, community and school involvement.   1 Answer

    Negotiation

None, it's a flat salary, commission is where the bigger dollars are.
