Work-life balance is nice, many very good people, the mission of the organization is admirable
There are some very nasty politics that take place in the middle management levels. Although there is some conflict between the different contracting agencies, the root problem is with some long term government employees. Silos, turf wars, throwing others under the bus ... quite common. It is a real drag if you become a target for these individuals and not a bad place to work otherwise.
Advice to Management
Shake it up, move all government middle management personnel to new positions in other areas, make them report to different division chielfs and make them develop their skill set and minimize their bad behaviors.
