  • Ohio State's Harding Hospital adds 18 psychiatric beds

    Responding to increased demand for psychiatric health care that might be linked to the opioid crisis, Ohio State University's Wexner Medical Center will cut the ribbon on a $2.6 million inpatient expansion on Tuesday.The 18 new, private, inpatient rooms on the fifth floor of Harding Hospital represent an almost 25% increase in beds in a facility that is experiencing a 10% annual increase in patients needing mental-health services, said Amanda Lucas, Harding's executive director.

The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center has been ranked a top hospital by U.S. News & World Report for 26 consecutive years. In 2018-2019, we were Central Ohio’s “Best Hospital," nationally ranked in 10 specialties (only 26 hospitals out of more than 4,500 can claim 10 or more).

Ranked programs include: Ear, Nose & Throat #4; Cancer #20; Pulmonology #20; Diabetes & Endocrinology #21; Nephrology #22; Neurology & Neurosurgery #22; Cardiology & Heart Surgery #24; Orthopedics #33; Urology #43; and Geriatrics #46.     The process took about 2 and a half weeks. I had an initial phone interview with the PI. Then I was sent a small sample assignment. From there, I had another interview through skype and was offered the job on the spot.
