    I have been working at The Paper Store full-time (More than 3 years)


    Working for a retailer that understands the balance of change in an evolving climate is exceptionally rewarding. I have worked in some form of retail my entire career. From big box to specialty, hard lines to soft lines, consumable to non-consumable in all aspects, associate, sales professional, operations coordinator, buyer, mid-manager, store manager, area manager. I will be celebrating 25 years of being a retail guru, and have moved on from many, but have returned to only one, The PaperStore. I believe in working for the best, and when you've achieved your maximum potential, or an opportunity crosses your path to help you develop personally and professionally you make the decision in the best interest of the company you work for and yourself, you move on. Never looking back, knowing you did your best work. When I gave my notice, I was with the company for 1 year and 5 months; it was met with understanding and compassion. I was told to "keep in touch, you never know what the future holds"
    Approximately 5 months into my new adventure, The PaperStore reached out to me for an opportunity. Warm hugs and great conversation lead us to know I wasn't ready to leave the company I was currently with. I knew I had more to learn and for me to be the best I could be for the PaperStore it wasn't the right time and it was a GREAT opportunity. Respectfully, they did not discuss salary, as they were respectful of my decision. 2 months later I reached out to
    The PaperStore. It was time for me to come "home". The PaperStore stayed true to what they said, " keep in touch,you never know what the future holds", there was no position for me at the time, not surprising as they have a great level of retention. They were willing to "layer” me in, YES, they TOOK me back!! The rest is my professional happily ever after.
    The PaperStore is a family owned business; they lead thru a moral compass of understanding that at the core of their success are the individuals who support the ever growing, constantly evolving for the better, business.
    We are a young company, who understands mistakes can't be ignored; they need to be met with innovation and change. I am so proud to be involved with this origination, because I know there is so much more for us. When a company invests in their people, their people invest in them! Happy 55 years in the retail market, humbled to be your associate.

    Remain approachable, keep listening to us in the field, we continue to make great changes to help support the work we do in stores.

    I applied in-person. I interviewed at The Paper Store (Millbury, MA) in October 2011.


    My first attempt didn't pan out because the store was closed due to renovation. Then it took me 2 or three tries before the manager was available. I also applied on line and never got a response. I sat down in person with the current manager and she went over my resume'. I was asked a few questions and was then given a brief overview of job description. She told me what the pay was and then gave me a time to come back with proper ID to fill out forms.

    what I asked for and what I was offered for pay were two totally different figures. Even though I had lots of retail experience, was over qualified, there was no negotiating. But I needed a job so I accepted.
