The Peninsula Chicago is an integral part of Chicago life and is the discerning first choice in a city renowned for its imaginative art and design. The hotel honored its 15th Anniversary in 2016 with refashioned suites and guest rooms that set visionary standards for luxury and in-room technology, drawing stylistic influences from the hotel’s French Deco public spaces, Lake Michigan and the Chicago River.

The Peninsula Chicago’s 256 luxurious guestrooms and 83 suites are among the largest in the city and are exquisitely furnished.  From April 2015 to March 2016, the hotel underwent a significant guestroom renovation. Designed with the luxury traveler in mind, the new guest rooms are the most technologically advanced in the world.

Shanghai Terrace

Shanghai Terrace offers guests intensely flavored food centered on Cantonese and Szechwan cuisine. During the summer months, The Terrace offers spectacular views of the John Hancock building and Water Tower Place and is considered the place to see and be seen for al fresco dining.  Zagat has selected Shanghai Terrace as the “No. 1 Chinese Restaurant in Chicago” as well as “Best Décor in Chicago.”

The Lobby

The Lobby is the main focal point of the lobby level, with its 20 foot floor-to-ceiling windows, it creates a dramatic meeting place where guests can enjoy healthy and hearty breakfast selections, delicious lunch offerings featuring classical sandwiches and salads, a famous Afternoon Tea following the footsteps of our flagship property in Hong Kong and a very delectable dinner menu.  In addition, The Lobby also offers the ever popular Chocolate Bar with live music on Fridays and Saturdays. Guests can can enjoy a very creative display food selections during Sunday Brunch.

The Bar

The plush and popular, The Bar is furnished with big leather chairs and comfortable sofas in addition to a fire place offering guests a very creative selection of martinis and cocktails. Famous for its unique Scotch and Cognac selections, The Bar is a place to see and be seen. The Bar has a semi-private room that can seat up to 15 guests.

Pierrot Gourmet

Reminiscent of a European café complete with terracotta floors, display vitrines featuring French pastries and desserts and French doors leading out to the patio provide the setting for this city respite.  The freshly baked pastries and breads, rotisserie options and specialty coffees are many reasons that guests are drawn to Pierrot Gourmet. There are monthly wine dinners and European events and holidays are held here, including St Patrick’s Day, Bastille Day, Oktoberfest, and more.

Meetings & Events

From intimate meetings to lavish galas, The Peninsula Chicago offers 11,000 square feet of event space. The Grand Ballroom offers dramatic views of “The Magnificent Mile” along with uncompromising service and hospitality.

Our Executive Chef and culinary team masterfully create menus for meetings and events that is representative of restaurant cuisine served in a grand setting. The Peninsula Chicago is regarded as having the “finest banquet food in Chicago.”


The Peninsula Spa was awarded #1 Hotel Spa in North America by Conde’ Nast Traveler readers in the April 2009 issue and #1 Urban Hotel Spa by SpaFinder in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

The 15,000 square foot Peninsula Spa and adjoining fitness center is located on the top two floors (19th and 20th) of The Peninsula Chicago.  The Peninsula Spa combines the peaceful ambience of a spa with a state-of-the-art fitness center and half-Olympic length lap pool, establishing it as a destination for Chicagoans and travelers alike.

    I have been working at The Peninsula Hotels full-time (More than a year)


    True luxury all around. They treat their employees as they do their guests. I've never worked for a company that cares so much about the employee experience. Benefits are fantastic. Low premiums. Amazing 401k package. Comp nights. Plenty of opportunities to grow. Excellent learning and development programs. Truly like a family.


    The only con is that I wish there were more locations in the United States. The home office is so far - Hong Kong. Feels a little disconnected sometimes.

    I applied online. I interviewed at The Peninsula Hotels (New York, NY).


    I had one phone screen and then came in 3 times and met with 5 different people. One interview was more like an interrogation and I was in shock when they offered me the job as I thought for sure she did not like me. We basically spent the entire interview arguing as to whether or not I was a good fit.
