I have been working at The Running Room part-time
The employee discount is decent, fun people to work with (most of the time), laid back environment, and flexible work schedule.
Upper management is too disconnected; they do not listen to employees when they request products after telling us to go and make lists for them to take into effect. Salary is a joke. No stability; constant changing of store management, due to many reasons. Those include: overworking staff, bad pay (can't stress this enough), upper management blames managers and other staff for not reaching insane sales goals, while they don't give us enough to advertise the stores even being where they are, and many more things that I can not think of off the top of my head. Employee insurance (only for full-time, salaried workers (so managers/asst. managers) ) isn't worth it (in the US, don't know about CAN). Basically, if you are looking for a long-term job, do not work here.
Advice to Management
Just listen to your employees, especially managers. They are in the store day in, day out; they understand what is and isn't needed in the stores.
I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at The Running Room.
Was customer - knew the staff as I had been in the store ofter and spent a lot of time there doing running clinics. I spoke to the manager and asked for part time work when it became available.
