I have been working at The Standard full-time (More than 8 years)
There is a good life/work balance. We also have good benefits, medical, dental, life, disability, 401k (typical match). I've always enjoyed my co-workers and the positive reputation The Standard has in the marketplace.
Over the last few years we've felt a shift in the home office. Departments have been cut and home office employees are overworked. We don't always get what we need in the field anymore. Also, consistent conservative pricing in a highly competitive market makes it hard to stay relevant.
Advice to Management
We need to anticipate activity and growth in high pressure sales environments. Losses in claims and service departments are leading to a loss in reputation. Do what you used to do best and take care of your employees which will in turn take care of your clients.
I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at The Standard (Hillsboro, OR) in November 2015.
Met with a recruiter by phone, passed to a second interview with three individuals. Called for a third interview with three additional members of leadership. Was called by another member of the team to give details on the offer. That same day, was given details by email on the background check, drug screen and official offer letter with compensation details.
