Mission: To inspire the world by showing it's possible to simultaneously deliver happiness to customers, employees, community, vendors and shareholders in a long-term, sustainable way.
“A music video? I thought Zappos sold stuff?” Indeed we do… But we are so much more than that! The Zappos Family has a fun and creative environment where living by our Core Values is the name of the game. You love spreadsheets? Coding is your life? You live to shop and get to partner with our vendors every day? You deliver the “WOW” to our customers on the phones?
Well, in addition to all of that, you might just find yourself singing karaoke, leading an attack in a nerf gun war, competing in an oreo cookie eating contest, parading around as a pirate, or throwing a cream pie in our CEO’s face. And maybe, just maybe, you will star in a music video!
Check it out. You’ve really got to see us to believe us! Are we the right kind of environment for you? Ok, some may say we are a little fun and weird, but hey, it's a core value!
The best thing about the Zappos Family is our unique culture. As we grew as a company, we didn’t want to lose that culture and we wanted a way to share it with all employees and anyone else who touches Zappos.
We created these ten core values to more clearly define what exactly the Zappos Family culture is. They are reflected in everything we do and every interaction we have. Our core values are always the framework from which we make all of our decisions.
When searching for potential employees, we’re looking for people who both understand the need for these core values and are willing to embrace and embody them.

The Zappos Family currently has career opportunities in 2 fabulous locations. One location is in the fabulous city of Las Vegas, Nevada. Our other location is home to The Golden Gate Bridge and a small technology satellite office. You got it... San Francisco, California. We do not currently have any work from home opportunities. (Sorry!)
Take a virtual tour of our beautiful campus in Downtown Las Vegas. We've completely transformed the old city hall building into 276,500 square feet of fun, creativity and weirdness! We've got everything you can imagine: delicious bistro, coffee shop, yoga studio, nap room, gym, green-space backyard, rooftop deck, patio furniture, hammocks, ping pong, sand-floored beachy conference room, co-working space on the top floor with panoramic views and even touch screen video games in the elevators to make your ride up and down the 10 floors just a little more fun!
Intertwined with restaurants, retail, and entrepreneurialism, our home in Downtown Las Vegas is utterly unique to the world. Tony Hsieh's Downtown Project is committed to helping to transform Downtown Las Vegas into the most community-focused large city in the world by inspiring and empowering people to follow their passions to create a vibrant, connected urban core. Cafes, bars, sidewalk bistros, small businesses, public spaces, coworking communities, a thriving entrepreneurship & tech scene, a focus on arts, music & culture… Downtown Las Vegas is where we work, live and play.
Learn more about the Zappos Family Internships here!
From day one new interns are given every opportunity to become a part of the Zappos family. Outside of the office Las Vegas offers an incredible array of activities for every type of person. Interns spend time at concerts on the strip, hiking in nearby mountains, boating on Lake Mead, eating fab meals and hanging poolside on sunny days (of which there are many). Interns are also invited to join community service activities that include beautifying hiking trails in Keen shoes, making furry friends at The Animal Foundation, helping kids in need at Goodie Two Shoes events, and more.
Our interns are placed within teams and given a manager and mentor to help them build technical skills, cultural competencies, and to coach interns on the proper execution of the Wobble. One of our core values is to pursue growth and learning so throughout their tenure interns are professionally developed, and coached to reach goals that they set with their managers early in the program. We genuinely believe that our unique culture can't strengthen and grow without new voices, so we host the intern culture showcase, where interns are asked to generate ideas on how we can scale our culture as we grow. Intern teams present to a panel of Zappos leadership, and the best ideas are implemented by the company!
Play isn't an afterthought at Zappos; it's a way of life. We'll take you downtown to experience the city lights and history of Las Vegas, maybe even zip line down Fremont Street (if you’re adventurous enough). In addition to downtown, we'll venture outside of our Las Vegas headquarters and see the real beauty Nevada has to offer. Around the office we celebrate random birthdays or anniversaries Zappos style with a parade and a whole lot of food. Be careful though, revelers caught wandering the hallways of our tech department may become the victim of one of our legendary Nerf gun fights. As an intern you are encouraged to create a little fun and weirdness in the office.
On site gym... on site coffee shop... on site cafeteria...on site manicures and pedicures... On site fish tank... On site massage chairs... Awesome medical benefits... Free snacks... Weekly and monthly campus events... Scheduled auto maintenance services... Scheduled car wash services...what is there not to love or appreciate?
Nothing is perfect. So it's important to understand that with any workplace, you have to find your own way and that means being able to feel Respected, Appreciated, Satisfied, and Empowered... you may not get this feeling with everyone or with every department you work with so appreciate all the small things and simple things which adds up to a whole lot... The real con is the fact that the campus is smack dab in downtown which lends to all the of the dynamics that all downtown cities have (homelessness, traffic, pollution, noise, yadda, yadda) coupled with the desert heat that lasts 5-6 months of the year from April - October... Thank goodness for the Air Conditioning.
Advice to Management
The summer heat was especially brutal this year and it continues to be hot even through September...so wouldn't it be nice to have those efficient recycling water misters and water fountains around campus to cool things off since it's fairly hot throughout the year... Maybe even plant a few more tall trees around the campus... Put some green Trees on top of the building and parking lots. Hell let's put an adult splash pad in the center of the Metro! Here's to the little things that adds up to bigger things that make our Lives, our Community, our Family and our Work so wonderful at Zappos.
I applied through other source. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Zappos Family (Las Vegas, NV) in April 2011.
Very friendly and informal. Included meeting team members and socializing after work. Good to see that they are looking for more than great marks on a piece of paper.
