Our other location is home to The Golden Gate Bridge and a small technology satellite office. You got it... San Francisco, California. We do not currently have any work from home opportunities. From day one new interns are given every opportunity to become a part of the Zappos family. Outside of the office Las Vegas offers an incredible array of activities for every type of person. Interns spend time at concerts on the strip, hiking in nearby mountains, boating on Lake Mead, eating fab meals and hanging poolside on sunny days (of which there are many). Interns are also invited to join community service activities that include beautifying hiking trails in Keen shoes, making furry friends at The Animal Foundation, helping kids in need at Goodie Two Shoes events, and more.
Our interns are placed within teams and given a manager and mentor to help them build technical skills, cultural competencies, and to coach interns on the proper execution of the Wobble. One of our core values is to pursue growth and learning so throughout their tenure interns are professionally developed, and coached to reach goals that they set with their managers early in the program. We genuinely believe that our unique culture can't strengthen and grow without new voices, so we host the intern culture showcase, where interns are asked to generate ideas on how we can scale our culture as we grow. Intern teams present to a panel of Zappos leadership, and the best ideas are implemented by the company!
Play isn't an afterthought at Zappos; it's a way of life. We'll take you downtown to experience the city lights and history of Las Vegas, maybe even zip line down Fremont Street (if you’re adventurous enough). In addition to downtown, we'll venture outside of our Las Vegas headquarters and see the real beauty Nevada has to offer. Around the office we celebrate random birthdays or anniversaries Zappos style with a parade and a whole lot of food. Be careful though, revelers caught wandering the hallways of our tech department may become the victim of one of our legendary Nerf gun fights. As an intern you are encouraged to create a little fun and weirdness in the office.
I worked at The Zappos Family full-time (Less than a year)
The Zappos internship is an experience like no other. They pay for housing and the training is not typical as you are not given training wheels and trusted to have the highest accountability right away.
It's difficult to learn the process for meetings at first, but do not be discouraged and ask questions!
I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at The Zappos Family (Las Vegas, NV) in May 2017.
I applied online for the CLT position. The whole process took about a month.
If you get accepted you are then tested on your knowledge, technically and culturally. After that, you are going to be doing a virtual interview (about 7 questions) where you have to record yourself answering the questions. After I submitted those above, I waited for about 2 weeks and got an face-to-face interview at the headquarters.
The interview lasted about an hour. There was a lot of scenario questions and a part where you had to role play as if you were in the call center. It was a bit difficult for me but I answered them honestly. The people interviewing me were very friendly. Although I was nervous, they made me feel comfortable when I was getting interviewed. I got offered the job by the next week.
Some advice: Just be yourself :-)
