Best Places to Work: 2016 (#28)
Hi – this is Tom Barton, Tintri’s CEO. As I write this I’m new to Tintri … and since I’ve just been through my search and evaluation of Tintri, I’m very aware this company has some tough reviews on Glassdoor. So, I want you to know we have made some important changes.
Many of the recent reviews point to a lack of leadership as the company worked through some challenges. There has been significant changes in the executive team—we are under new management—and I believe the current team has a clear view of how we can win in the competitive storage market.
Tintri’s technology is so good it can solve just about any storage pains in the data center. Consequently, we’ve chased a lot of markets when we could have been more focused. At this point, we know where we are more differentiated and so our entire go-to-market effort has been aligned around the use cases we consistently win.
Tintri has always been recognized for its exceptional all-flash storage and highly differentiated software. While the company has reduced operating expenses, we continue to invest aggressively in innovation. Our architecture allows for plenty of ‘only Tintri’ capabilities and our roadmap will resonate with any engineer who wants to solve big problems with ElasticSearch, Spark, Apache and more.
Look, it’s my hope to build a good company … an honest company. That starts at the top, and my intent with this note on our Glassdoor page is to let you know where we’re at today, and how we intend to improve.
We know we need great people to win in this market, and so if you ever want more insight, you can reach me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
I worked at Tintri full-time
Good engineering practices. Consistent coding style. Extensive tests in the stack; unit, component, system tests. Super nice people all around.
Enterprise Storage is a tough space to be in.
I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Tintri (Boston, MA) in March 2016.
was very thorough but also very seamless. I was phone screened and met with both technical staff members and sales leadership. The HR folks were very organized and professional. The interview process itself was very methodical and well timed, the interviewers were tough, businesslike and challenging which is precisely what I would expect and demand of a company that I would be inclined to work for.
