    Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Toggl (Portland, OR) in November 2019.

    Interview

You have to take an online test. If you get 80% of above, you will move to the next stage. They state you will have 25 minutes to answer but it is only 20. 3-4 questions were "free text" where you had to write. The others were multiple choice. You get your answer immediately so if you don't pass no one will ever even read your written answers.

    Interview Questions

    • Describe your design process, everyday toolset, skillset and anything else you want to share.   1 Answer
    • You have come up with a new layout for the project page. It also calls for additional API call to pull in some aggregate information to show a small report. Research shows it would increase user retention significantly. Unfortunately developers are not willing to add this, because it will slow page loading time by 0.5s and will put considerable strain on the database.
What do you do?   Answer Question
    • Management wants to increase the conversion to the Premium plan. The main feature for the Premium plan is a set of reports. Unfortunately, the reports are not used much. Research shows that users find the UI for switching between the reports to be confusing. You are tasked with coming up with a new navigation solution.
How do you approach this project?   Answer Question
