I worked at Tom Thumb full-time (More than 8 years)
Flexible scheduling, room for advancement, generally easy-going store management.
Upper management was always trying to reinvent the wheel on service expectations to the point where it caused substantial disruption to the routine of every single store employee at least every six months.
Advice to Management
People at the store level know our customers. A one-size-fits-all approach to what is expected of every shop is asinine and customers know it's contrived.
I applied online. I interviewed at Tom Thumb (Arlington, TX) in May 2017.
Applied online, got a call about a week later asking me to come in for a one on one interview. Asked about my experience, availability, and skills. Nothing too stressful. Haven't been on many interviews so I was noticeably nervous, but the manager was very polite which made me feel more at ease.
