    I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TopRank Marketing (Minneapolis, MN)

    Interview

    I came away from the interview process with TopRank feeling pretty burned. I had an initial screening interview with their recruiter and then a phone interview with the content manager, both of which I thought went well. The next step in the process was a writing test, which turned out to be a blog post for one of their real clients. Of course I worked hard on that and turned in work I felt pretty good about. Here's where it got weird: I was then rejected, but they offered to pay me for the writing test so they could use it for the client. The reason they gave for the rejection was my lack of experience in one particular aspect of the job, but this part of the job was in no way emphasized in the posted job description, and I was also upfront about my lack of experience in that realm PRIOR to doing the writing test. So I came away with the conclusion that they're taking advantage of their applicant pool as cheap freelance writers. It was pretty disappointing.

Our team at TopRank Marketing joined together to help fight local hunger and recently spent a day volunteering at Second Harvest Heartland. Non-profit Second Harvest Heartland is a member of Feeding America, a nationwide network of over 200 food-banks serving every state. As part of an ongoing agency community service program, the team at TopRank Marketing helped sort and repack food in the spirit of Second Harvest’s belief that no one should ever go hungry. Our volunteer day brought the team together for a good cause and served as the latest example of how we are working hard to expand our core company values of teamwork and creating positive impact in the communities we live in.
