To celebrate and honor some of the exceptional service, extraordinary actions, and valuable community outreach of our employees, this year we are sharing stories of how our team is making a difference.
Today we introduce you to Zach Hardin. Zach works as a valet attendant for Towne Park in Virginia at a leading global hotel chain. He works seamlessly with our partner’s team to ensure that every guest’s experience is first class, to extend our partner’s brand, and to make it shine. The impact on guests can be enormous.
Zach recently went above and beyond to help a guest in need, which prompted the guest to write the hotel, assuming that Zach worked for them. As shown below in the guest’s letter, Zach made the guest a fan of the brand for life:
“Zach Hardin, Valet Manager for the [hotel name] made me a lifelong [brand] user. I stayed at the hotel last week and stupidly forgot that I had rented a car. I used Uber to get back to the airport and had forgotten that I had a rental. I called the rental company numerous times but got no response. I called the hotel and eventually got to Zach. After hearing my problem, and understanding that I was in California and not Virginia, Zach did not hesitate to offer help and drive the car back for me. I offered compensation, or a tip and Zach refused. How can any hotel chain compete with this kind of dedication and service from your employees? I will be forever in Zach’s debt. I hope that your hotel recognizes Zach’s selfless service, and I will always use your hotel for my future travel needs. Well done.”

Earlier this year we partnered with Union Park Elementary in Orlando, FL. Union Park is a Title I school that serves relatively underprivileged students, some of whom receive up to three meals per day and need clothing on loan to make it through the week.
Towne Park donated $10,000 to Union Park for the purchase of a STEAM lab, a space that rewards imagination and inspires integrative learning in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. As STEAM labs says, “When kids are empowered to be makers, amazing things happen in their lives. By being creators instead of just consumers, they are learning to be the innovators of the future, today. Their confidence in their own abilities allows them to make the change they want to see in the world.”
With the funds, Union Park created a fantastic lab featuring technology and robotics systems that many top-tier schools do not have, including the following:
The effect of the STEAM lab on kids has been tremendous. Many students who were struggling academically, behaviorally, and/or socially have shown dramatic improvement since gaining access to the donated equipment. Union Park Elementary’s principal, Amy Klaber, stated simply, “Towne Park is making a difference in the lives of these students.”
We couldn’t be happier. Students have beautiful hearts and incredible minds. Sometimes all they need is an opportunity and someone who cares. In our own small way, we’ve provided both.
At Towne Park, we celebrate our employees and all they do to make us successful. At many of our locations, special recognition events are held in honor of service anniversaries and key accomplishments. From Annapolis, Maryland, to Anaheim, California, Towne Park we also get together for employee birthdays and encourage associates to have fun while giving back to our local communities through volunteer events and civic organizations. For associates based in our corporate offices, casual Fridays are observed whenever possible and appropriate. With opportunities for advancement, as well as comprehensive training programs beyond new employee orientation, we empower our employees who are seeking growth and to achieve their full potential as a member of the Towne Park family. Through the programs below, we are proud to have an average of 100 employees a month dedicated to training nationally.
Gear Up is an online and on-demand development program targeted toward our entry-level associates who wish to grow into a supervisory position. Upon completion of the curriculum, the associate sits for a panel certification interview to validate knowledge and gain exposure to local leadership. This training program offers hospitality- and healthcare-based versions of this training to best equip our associates for success as they prepare to step into their first leadership role. And as of November 2015, Gear Up celebrated its 1000th graduate in its very first year!
This 12-week hybrid learning program consists of three unique components, mixing online learning, classroom style instructor-led training, and ongoing “stretch assignments” for the associate to implement in between classes. Through Ascent, our associates gain invaluable knowledge and experience. Upon completion of the program, they are ready to attend a panel certification and start applying to management positions.
“AMTP” is designed for first time assistant and account managers. Whether internally promoted or externally hired, this curriculum covers everything an account manager would need to know in their first 60 days in the role. Topics include but are not limited to, Towne Park systems, client relations, revenue reconciliation, payroll and roster management, risk mitigation, and employment practices.
While similar to AMTP, the Emerging Leaders Program is designed specifically for recent college graduates interested in pursuing a leadership position. During the nine to twelve month rotational program, participants are mentored by Towne Park’s top leadership and are educated and trained in all facets of the company. After successful completion of this program, they are placed into a leadership role within the organization.
At Towne Park, our commitment to making a difference includes helping the communities in which we live and work. Towne Park works with a wide variety of partners to develop and support initiatives that help communities across the country. Initiatives range from education to career development programs.

very easy interview because of the manager at the time. Now they look more for how you can bring service. Its not about how fast you can bring up cars but how you can make guests feel welcomed.
