To celebrate and honor some of the exceptional service, extraordinary actions, and valuable community outreach of our employees, beginning this month and continuing for the rest of the year we will share stories of Difference Makers.

Today we introduce you to Beth Geiler, a shuttle driver and trained nurse who joined Towne Park in August 2015. Beth works the night shift at a hospital in Illinois, where she is known for not only being a good, dependable driver, but someone who really cares about and connects with people.

Recently, Beth went above and beyond at work, showing her exceptional character. While driving her shuttle route, she saw two individuals on the side of the road slumped over, seemingly lifeless in their car. She stopped her shuttle, immediately called security, and together with another passerby administered CPR. Security and medical personnel soon arrived. Knowing the individuals were in capable hands, Beth then continued on her route.

Beth made a difference on that day, and continues to every day on her shuttle. In the words of a hospital employee:

“I am writing to you because I need to acknowledge your shuttle bus driver Beth Geiler. She is always friendly, makes me feel safe and is a great driver. I really appreciate her and when I see her it makes my day…. I hope she gets recognized. Yesterday she saved two guys’ lives. She is always attentive when she is driving and that's what makes her good. The police officer gave her a hug and told her she saved their lives. I was getting on the shuttle right when this happened.”

Beth is a true Difference Maker and we are proud to have her Leading, Serving, and Growing at Towne Park.

To celebrate and honor some of the exceptional service, extraordinary actions, and valuable community outreach of our employees, this year we are sharing stories of Difference Makers.

Today we introduce you to Brian Bonus. Brian works as a valet attendant for Towne Park at a major hospital in Oregon where he assists and helps comfort patients and guests.

Recently, Brian made a deep impression on a patient who came to the hospital feeling sick, which inspired the patient to do something he had never done before. While the patient had previously received excellent clinical care at the hospital, Brian’s actions proved so meaningful to the patient that they triggered his first letter to hospital management in his over 45 years of visits to the facility.

Brian made a difference on that day, and continues to every day at the hospital. In the words of the patient:

“I was barely ambulatory, and very uncomfortable.  I decided to use valet parking.  That is not a service I take advantage of, but on this day I certainly felt vulnerable and the availability of this free service felt like a blessing.  I welcomed the chance to save a few steps.

I was greeted by Brian who, when he saw the difficulty I was having getting out of my car, offered (insisted?) that I use a wheelchair. ‘Well, great,’ I thought. ‘I can roll myself in.’ No. Brian so cheerfully and thoughtfully said he would push me to my appointment. Leaving others to run the parking, he happily and respectfully got me in the building, up the elevator and to my doctor. He explained along the way that my keys would be at security if my appointment ran late.

The appointment did indeed run late, and just after 5 p.m. Brian was bringing the keys in as I was rolling myself out to the parking. He stopped me (remembering my name), had me wait while he left the keys, and then rolled me back to my car. Once again, cheerfully chatting all the way….

Brian is a treasure, an everyday angel.  Free valet parking is obviously not a profit center for the hospital. But, combined with Brian, as a tool to accomplish your mission statement and make it manifest, it is a priceless combination.”

Brian is a true Difference Maker and we are proud to have him Leading, Serving, and Growing at Towne Park.

Gear Up

Gear Up is an online and on-demand development program targeted toward our entry-level associates who wish to grow into a supervisory position. Upon completion of the curriculum, the associate sits for a panel certification interview to validate knowledge and gain exposure to local leadership. This training program offers hospitality- and healthcare-based versions of this training to best equip our associates for success as they prepare to step into their first leadership role. And as of November 2015, Gear Up celebrated its 1000th graduate in its very first year!

Ascent Training

This 12-week hybrid learning program consists of three unique components, mixing online learning, classroom style instructor-led training, and ongoing “stretch assignments” for the associate to implement in between classes. Through Ascent, our associates gain invaluable knowledge and experience. Upon completion of the program, they are ready to attend a panel certification and start applying to management positions.

Account Manager Training Program (AMTP)

“AMTP” is designed for first time assistant and account managers. Whether internally promoted or externally hired, this curriculum covers everything an account manager would need to know in their first 60 days in the role. Topics include but are not limited to, Towne Park systems, client relations, revenue reconciliation, payroll and roster management, risk mitigation, and employment practices.

Emerging Leaders Program

While similar to AMTP, the Emerging Leaders Program is designed specifically for recent college graduates interested in pursuing a leadership position. During the nine to twelve month rotational program, participants are mentored by Towne Park’s top leadership and are educated and trained in all facets of the company. After successful completion of this program, they are placed into a leadership role within the organization.

    very easy interview because of the manager at the time. Now they look more for how you can bring service. Its not about how fast you can bring up cars but how you can make guests feel welcomed.
