I have been working at Travelodge Hotels (UK) (More than a year)
There are no pros to this job. Management lies at job interview about the amount of rooms you will need to clean. Some days we have been given 25 rooms each to clean with no help from supervisors, told we have to complete excesses work list before we left to collect kids from school or it was a disciplinary . Other times you get about 5 or 6, which is 2hours work as you have to clean a departed room in 20 min and a stay over 9 mins.
Ignored by management
Expected to clean rooms in 20 mins to maximise profit margins so that the hotel manager or the assistant manager can get a nice bonus. While the housekeeper who is put under enormous pressure to clean 3 departed rooms in 1hour gets £7.50 and no guarantee of more then 4 hours work a week.
Advice to Management
Treat the people who are cleaning the rooms better and they might take pride in their jobs which would result in more return customer and lots more good reviews. It not rocket science
I applied online. I interviewed at Travelodge Hotels (UK) (Cardiff, Wales (UK)) in July 2017.
Simple online application, followed by a call 1 week later to invite me to an interview with the Hotel Manager.
Interview was with 2 Managers in the hotel Cafe, which was fairly empty. Nice relaxing atmosphere and was offered a cup of tea. The interview itself was very relaxed and started with some general conversation. It contained simple questions about availability, suitability for the role and holidays booked etc. This was then followed by 3 scenario based questions.
