I great place to learn how to lie to people!
I was a shuttle driver for this company (Travelynx, based in Cocoa,FL owned by Stylus Transportation Corp based in Orlando,FL.) for several months in 2015. I'm writing this review for the benefit of people who are trying to decide on a shuttle service when visiting central florida and make an educated decision. I'm sharing my personal experience and what I witnessed during that time.
Drug and Alcohol use on company time and drug sales on company property
Extremely reckless driving - 100+MPH, Riding on bumpers, Cuting off other vehicles, etc.
Department of Transportation Violations - Working up to 17 hours straight, etc.
Safety Violations - Seatbelts that don't work, Missing booster seats, car seats, spare tires, step stools to safely get in and out of vehicles, etc. in some shuttle vans
Putting the best interest of customers last - Making customers wait for a long time unnecessarily, etc.
In June 2015, Stylus Transportation Corp akaTravelynx, hired 2 so-called managers (I use that term very loosely) to run operations transporting passengers via their shuttle vans, mini buses and buses. Stylus / Travelynx spent a lot of money on buying new vans but didn't buy step stools for all the vans, resulting in passengers having a hard time getting in and out of the vans. I had offered to buy my own step stool and was told my management that I can't for liability reasons, which is ironic because I had people literally fall out of my van because their wasn't a step stool available. One of the times this happened a lady fell out out of my van head first at the Orlando airport, I was able to break her fall by putting my arms out to catch her and we both hit the ground, her husband was an attorney. I was able to disfuse the situation and they didn't sue the company. I spoke with the owner of Travelynx / Stylus Transportation Corp regarding this incident and he told me "he's not obligated to have step stools per Department of Transportation regulations". He never asked if the lady who fell out of my van was ok nor did he ask if I was ok. That speaks volumes to me and shows what type of person he is.
Customers being left to wait for a very long time is common, even when drivers are available to pick-up passengers, that's because of the incompetence of the dispatch department, with dumb and dumber (management) and the realm.
At least one driver was allowed to transport passengers even though he had been avoiding taking a drug test for months! He's actually one of the "favorite drivers" dispatch used.
Another current driver has numerous driving violations, Several Unlawful Speeding Tickets, Careless Driving, Driving While License Suspended, etc.
Stylus aka Travelynx has a terrible reputation for numerous reasons and is losing a lot of business because they refuse to do the right thing, both from a customer point of view and a employee. The Hampton Inn and Marriott Courtyard on Cocoa Beach (among others) recently pulled their contract with Stylus / Travelynx because of so many complaints.
Go Port Canaveral based in Merritt Island,FL (goportcanaveral.com) currently uses Travelynx / Stylus Transportation Corp for their Orlando and Sanford airport shuttle service to and from Port Canaveral and Cocoa Beach, etc. Go Port Canaveral is aware of the issues made in this review. It's interesting how Go Port Canaveral doesn't say anything on their website about who they use for airport / hotel shuttle service. They have a generic picture showing two big white buses. Now you know they use Travelynx / Stylus Transportation Corp.
Favoritism between dispatchers and drivers exist at this company. It happened everyday I worked their. I'm bringing this up because it has a negative consequence for passengers waiting to be picked up. Dispatchers would use their favorite drivers to pick-up passengers, even if that meant it would delay people from getting picked up, resulting in passengers waiting a very long time at the airport (MCO) or at the port (Port Canaveral). I often picked up passengers after they waited a very long time even though I was sitting in holding for hours 1 mile away at the airport or a 100 feet away at the port. Drivers sitting in holding for 3,4,5 hours at a time happened often while passenengers were standing outside with their luggage waiting to be picked up.
After a few weeks of working for Stylus / Travelynx, I saw a lot of bad things going on which was putting passengers lives in danger. I met with the safety director for Stylus / Travelynx to share my concerns for the safety of the passengers. A few days later the safety director is gone and is now a bus driver in a different city, coincidence, I think not.
I've had meetings with the safety director, operations manager, operations vp, general manager and the owner regarding these issues, to no avail. I hope this information has been of some help and I wish you a safe trip while visiting central florida.
