    Negative Outlook

I worked at Tribune Interactive full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great technologists. Work with some of the best technologies with some very smart people.
Very large customer footprint. With millions of users across the United States, they make websites that are dear to a large number of people.
Somewhat flexible schedules, but in exchange they will ask you to take responsibility in off-hours.

    Cons

Like most large publishers, they're still working at finding a sustainable business model. If you actually read one of their newspapers, you should be familiar with the fact that Tribune was bought out by an unscrupulous gang of investors, who may still yet be sued for fraud, and is just now exiting bankruptcy. Unknown what the outlook is for the company.

    Software Engineer Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Tribune Interactive (Chicago, IL).

    Interview

I was given a phone screen by a senior developer, which included skills questions. This was followed by in-person interview by pair of developers where they told me about their work and projects and I asked questions. Next was an interview by the hiring manager. All developers were at the time brought in as consultants, and most were offered full-time status after three months. The process was facilitated by a staffing agency.
