Technical Account Manager
Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

ProsAn actual open door policy and not a stated one
ConsLike most post-COVID workforces, still finding the balance for remote workers
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Truework (United States)
InterviewHad to setup a call with the recruiter initially. It didn't seem like they read my emails indicating when I was on holiday or when I wanted them to call a different phone #.
Asked to code a strange, non-standard container structure. The interview was "paired programming" which was actually just their engineering manager in on the call talking to me during it. The question was worded oddly and I misinterpreted it, but it didn't become apparent until halfway through the time allotted. It was scheduled for 45 minutes. 15 or so minutes of it was talking about each others' history, and a questions session after maybe 20-25 minutes of coding. I didn't know what language the test was going to be in until 1 minute before the interview, despite having asked this in an ignored email previously. The interview itself felt high pressure with comments such as e.g. "I'd run it right now, but you do you" when the code wasn't runnable yet. Then later with 10 minutes left "also write some test cases" which wasn't specified at all up to that point. It also felt like it could have been pointed out I misinterpreted the question requirements sooner.Answer Question
