Pros

Trupanion's mission and values are really the core of all that people do with this company. As a person with a background in non-profit work, it's so nice to be able to work for a private company

Cons

Trupanion relies A LOT on variable comp models and bonus structures. If you're blessed with a good bonus structure, then you'll be very happy, but if you rely on your base salary, it can really hurt.

Advice to Management

Like all industries in a labor shortage, we need to be cognizant of burnout. Similar to working in non-profit, undercompensating folks and relying on their connection to their work for productivity

How is diversity at Trupanion?

...stream with no communication, very little training, managers who respond to requests for assistance by ignoring you for a month or longer, zero accountability up the chain, the low pay they give and expect you to be grateful for is straight up pathetic, they say they're diverse and inclusive but refuse to actually engage on inclusion and diversity issues....Read More

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Trupanion (United States) in Feb 2022

    Interview

This was the first interview I’ve had in a very long time where the company made me feel confident and that my work experience was worth something.
Recruiter reached out via email to schedule a phone interview which lasted about 30 minutes. This was followed by a Zoom interview with department managers. Again the experience was amazing. I was very nervous but they immediately made me feel comfortable and the conversation just flowed. They truly wanted to know ME and not have me parrot back meaningless responses to vague generic interview questions.
My recruiter reached out a day later and I was offered the position. Even if I hadn’t been offered the job, the interview experience alone gave me such a boost and made me believe in myself and my abilities.
So many companies make you feel like a nameless faceless number-not Trupanion!
