Tufts Health Plan – Why Work For Us?

Welcome back Jean, another great #THPboomerang!

"There are multiple things that made me want to return to Tufts Health Plan. People are the key. I missed the company's values. We support people from every income bracket and through every stage of life. Everybody is trying to achieve the same goals of doing the best they can for the members we serve."

People return to Tufts Health Plan for the things they can't find anywhere else. It's great to have you back Jean!

Meet #THPboomerang Emily.

"I came back for the people and the culture. I was craving the interactions with people -- people who feel like family. I also missed the communication between departments, opportunities to learn and the feeling that I was making a difference for my team and the members we touch. I feel like I am back home!"

Our boomerangs come back to Tufts Health Plan because they know it’s a special place to work. Welcome back Emily!

#THPboomerang Malinda came back to our team because she cares about our members.

"It is really fulfilling to be able to assist someone in their time of need. Providing support is what makes being a nurse, especially a Tufts Health Plan nurse, worthwhile. I wanted to return because I knew that I would be able to deliver the kind of care that is so greatly lacking in the community. We are the calm voice on the phone explaining office visit results, celebrating good news and helping to find answers when the news isn't what they hoped for."

We couldn't agree more. Welcome back Malinda!

Colleen became a #THPboomerang because of the support we provide to our employees.

"I've had experience with other companies, and none of them go out of their way like Tufts Health Plan does to make sure employees are treated well. From the location, to the gym, to the work from home program -- the benefits are amazing. I have a phenomenal boss and a team that supports me. Working at Tufts Health Plan makes for a great day, everyday!"

It was certainly a great day when Colleen returned! Glad to have you back.

"People really live up to the values of the organization and its mission statement, and the culture is unique. It made leaving in the first place a difficult decision. It had been like a family and I missed that. You only realize that when you leave and come back."

We're thrilled to have #THPboomerang David back on our team!

Company culture is really important to us. That’s why we were so thrilled by what #THPBoomerang Phyllis had to say about coming back.

“Tufts Health Plan provides tremendous training for all of its employees at every level. You don’t see that at many other places. Employees are given the opportunity to grow and be innovative, while also having flexibility for a healthy work-life balance. To this day the best manager I’ve ever had was when I started here for the first time almost 16 years ago.”

So glad to have you back Phyllis!

Another day, another Boomerang making her way back to Tufts Health Plan!

Susan returned for the “opportunity to lead a fantastic and dedicated team, the supportive work culture, and the wonderful people.”

Boomerangs are defined by the fact that they return. Our boomerangs are also defined by the fact that they all agree that Tufts Health Plan is a great place to work!

What made this boomerang come back?
“A make or break aspect for me is liking the people you work with and for. It’s why I came back.”

Founded in 1979, Tufts Health Plan is nationally recognized for its commitment to providing innovative, high-quality health care coverage. We are true to our mission of improving the health and wellness of the diverse communities we serve. Touching the lives of more than one million members, Tufts Health Plan serves members in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire through employer-sponsored plans; Medicare; and Medicaid/subsidized plans, offering health insurance coverage across the life span regardless of age or circumstance.

We continually rank among the top health plans in the country based on quality and member satisfaction. Our private HMO and PPO plans are rated 5 - the highest rating possible - by the National Committee for Quality Assurance*. Only 5 companies across the country achieved this distinction. Our Tufts Medicare Preferred HMO and Senior Care Options plans earned a 5 star rating - the highest rating possible - from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for 2016. Only 12 plans nationally achieved this distinction.

Our values represent our core beliefs in how we work together, for the good of our members, our clients, our provider partners, community partners and our colleagues.

We are committed to developing an atmosphere that respects each employee as an individual. To that end, we believe that a diverse workforce enables us to:

  • Apply our collective talents to achieve shared objectives
  • Deliver the greatest value to our customers
  • Fulfill our mission

Tufts Health Plan employees are a diverse, talented work force who use a team approach to their work. Our employees work together and support each other in an enthusiastic and energetic work environment.

Tufts Health Plan is proud to have joined more than 50 companies in Boston who have signed the Boston Women’s Compact pledge, a key element in local efforts to eliminate the gender wage gap. These companies publicly support efforts to create pay equity by working to accomplish the following three goals: understanding the root causes of the wage gap through analyses of internal employment practices and data, closing the gap by increasing women's wages to equal those of their male counterparts, and continuing to measure the success of these efforts.

Tufts Health Plan conducted an analysis of our own pay with regard to equity between men and women, and between minorities and non-minorities. The results were positive and confirmed what we believed: while there are differences in pay, those differences are not based on gender or race, but based on individual factors such as experience and performance. Our commitment to strong and fair internal employment practices and regular review of employee compensation ensures we continue to provide equal pay for equal work.

We are always looking for talented and motivated people to join our team. If you are interested in obtaining a position with Tufts Health Plan, we invite you to explore our current career opportunities and apply here:

I applied online. I interviewed at Tufts Health Plan (Watertown, MA) in May 2017.

I had a phone screen with HR, then a phone interview with the hiring manager, then an in-person interview with the hiring manager, then a follow-up in-person interview with the hiring manager's manager and a colleague. Then... radio silence.
