Tufts Health Plan – Why Work For Us?

Tufts Health Plan is nationally recognized for its commitment to providing innovative, high-quality health care coverage, and has been serving members for 40 years.  Staying true to our mission of improving the health and wellness of the diverse communities we serve, we touch the lives of more than 1.16 million members in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New Hampshire through employer-sponsored plans; Medicare; Medicaid and Marketplace plans, offering health insurance coverage across the life span regardless of age or circumstance.

We are continually among the top health plans in the country based on quality and member satisfaction. Our Tufts Medicare Preferred HMO and Senior Care Options plans received a 5-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, the highest rating possible.

Corporate Citizenship:

We bring value to our members through our products and services, and also through a corporate culture defined by the highest ideals of integrity, respect, responsibility, and citizenship. We do this by connecting and cultivating relationships with the people and communities around us.

At all levels, Tufts Health Plan employees are building these relationships. They follow their own passions and interests, donating goods through annual holiday giving, food, and clothing drives; volunteering their time to support the communities where they live and work; and giving money to organizations that close to their hearts.

In 2018 more than 1,200 (45 percent) of our employees volunteered 11,457 hours to local nonprofits – surpassing our goal of 10,000 hours in the community. We take the sum of those actions to create a palpable culture of responsibility and generosity. Through our employee match program, the Tufts Health Plan Foundation donated more than $850,000 to community organizations in the four states where we do business. The Tufts Health Plan Foundation has given more than 32 million dollars back to community nonprofits since 2008.

Gillian returned to the Tufts Health Plan team for our innovation and our integrity.

“I was only away from Tufts Health Plan for five months, but I feel like I was able to achieve more in my first three days back than I did in the entire time I was away. What I really like about our team is the openness to innovation and exploring new ideas and technologies. It’s wonderful working with an organization that has a "let's try it" attitude. I also missed the people and values at Tufts Health Plan -- our teammates are happy to be at work and believe in doing the right thing.”

We’re glad to have you and your great ideas back, Gillian!

After three “too long” years away, Thomas came back to Tufts Health Plan for the people and the perks.

“Without a doubt, I missed the people. I missed the colleagues and friends that I had across all levels of the organization. I also missed the collaboration across business units, and being able to make decisions that directly impact our members' experience and their ability to access services. The benefits offered by Tufts Health Plan are also definitely different from other companies. I appreciate the various retirement investment options, as my prior employer did not offer as many. Considering I had to pay for parking with my last employer, I am also very thankful for the free parking here."

We’re glad to have you back, Thomas! #THPBoomerang

Maria boomeranged back to Tufts Health Plan to help the communities we serve.

"I work with pregnant women in the community to ensure they have happy, healthy pregnancies. It's a very rewarding job. I left for another job opportunity, and although I gained new skills, I missed Tufts Health Plan and it was always my goal to come back at some point. I love the sense of community. I feel supported by my colleagues and upper management and I appreciate that the company takes the time to listen to all of its employees and that all of our opinions matter. They understand that happy employees make for a successful company!”

Welcome back, Maria! #THPBoomerang

Vitaliy came back to Tufts Health Plan to be part of a company that cares about its members and because he believes in what we do.

“Tufts Health Plan is a great company and provides their employees with a lot of potential for growth and improvement. People here have a great work ethic and it’s nice to be part of such a diverse community of employees. The company takes care of people and you are treated like a real person, not just a number.”

It’s great to have you back, Vitaliy! #THPBoomerang

People return to Tufts Health Plan at all levels. Jean Yang, the president of our public plans division, returned for our culture and for the opportunity to lead.

"Tufts Health Plan is a key player in the market and embodies many attributes that make Massachusetts a leader of health care in this country. The organization has a strong and unique culture of striving for innovation, leadership, excellence, and cultural diversity. There is a also a real sense of inclusion, appreciation and support among the employees here, which makes everyone feel as comfortable as possible. This is a place to learn and grow."

Welcome back, Jean!

I have been working at Tufts Health Plan full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Their flexibility and work/life balance makes me want to work harder. I am able to manage my work as well as personal life as a working parent with ease, while still getting my work done.

I feel very supported by my boss, and an confident they are committed to my development and career progression. I was able to participate in an internal fellowship program this past year that widened my internal network, and gave me a great opportunity to present to senior leadership as well as my peers, and learn new aspects of our business.

    Great caf, amazing gym.

Employees truly seem like a family-- very supportive environment, from senior leaders to front line staff.

    Cons

Commute - but my one-two work from home days per week make up for it.
